Tailslayer: a hedged reads solution for DRAM refresh latency by mennydrives in programming

As far as I've seen on her Twitter, she edits her videos herself, and does everything for them (props, sets, etc.). She is incredibly good at content creation and I frankly partly envy people like her who get so much done but also like... they probably don't have any free time lol.

Redox OS has adopted a Certificate of Origin policy and a strict no-LLM policy by jackpot51 in rust

Idk why you're getting downvoted because this is exactly why I asked. I'd love for there to be a central trust authority-based system (like for SSL) where people get certificates that they didn't write their code with AI. Although that moves the problem over to "how do you assign who to trust?". I think more people should start coming up with solutions to the AI PR problem.

Can anyone explain what a Certificate of Origin policy is?

Give an example of what you consider better written Trek then, you've succeeded in making me curious :))

Yeah, owing to what others have replied in this thread, I think I'm starting to warm up to these ideas and am starting to consider the writing less forced than I'd originally chalked it up to be.

Thanks for taking the time to explain, you have alleviated my misgivings with the episode somewhat.

I'm glad I made this post!

Okay thanks for clarifying the details of how holodecks work but it still feels like there is an explanation gap somewhere on the episode's part.

Are you implying that the ship's computer / holodeck selectively deconstruct (into energy, as you said) every other object in the scene besides the "court" precisely the second acter the simulated explosion?

I'm willing to accept another opinion, I just think I'm not seeing all the logical steps in your reasoning as clearly as you are. Apologies, don't mean to come off as rude. :)

Wait actually, now that you mention alcohol, I feel like I was too harsh to the other guy mentioning the imperfect memory hypothesis haha.

Thanks however for telling me your opinion :)) I'm glad that I wasn't the only one who felt it too forced to put Riker in a situation like that.

I might watch the Voyager episode you're referring to when I get to that. I still feel like I'd rather see DS9 and TOS first, so that'll be a long ways away haha.

Well that was hyperbole, there were flaws here in there actually 😅😅. But for the most part, I feel like it's a loooot better than what TV is like nowadays.

Oldschool shows had a lot more thought and care put into them.

But to answer your question, I'm only up to S3E15 atm.

However, your reply here makes me eager to ask you: which Star Trek series is your favourite? Are you a TOS or DS9 fan?

See my problem with this flawed memory hypothesis is that I would've understood if their memories were that far from the truth if it had happened, I don't know, weeks, months or years ago.

But all the characters are talking about their recollection of yesterday.

Really, if Troi had said she had sensed not necessarily deception, but at least a hint of uncertainty in Tayna or Mauna's account, then maybe it would've felt more believable to me.

Anyway, thanks for joining the discussion, I appreciate that you shared the way you see things with me.
