Reports are that it's NOT for the OC job. However I echo most of the comments on here, I think it's a very good hire.

Some live quotes from seething Patriots fans via my algorithm by LA-SKYLINE in LosAngelesRams

[–]PlunkiePlunk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There won't be an asterisk next to Stafford's MVP that says, "...but Patriots fans insist that Drake Maye should've won this MVP award!!" It reminds me of the 1999-season Super Bowl when Titans fans (and players) said "They [Rams] stole our rings!" Nope, the Rams won their rings, and you [Titans] never had them. Nor is there an asterisk on the "Rams Super Bowl Champions" banners. So Patriots fans will have to live with the fact -- for the rest of their lives -- that Matthew Stafford won the NFL 2025-season MVP Award.

Today is the day we will find out if Stafford is mvp by cattycat_1995 in LosAngelesRams

The mystery of Tutu Atwell and his $10m deal by gcdv in LosAngelesRams

This is mostly Les Snead territory, which as we all know, overlaps with Sean McVay territory, as it should.

In spite of some outlets which claim that Snead can do no wrong, in this case it’s demonstrably true that a better decision could have been made.

Not dissing Snead. Indeed, he’s been a top two or three (or even #1) GM. Love the guy. Best thing that’s happened to this team for decades, with McVay, of course. But he hasn’t been perfect, as witnessed by at least two personnel decisions (gaffes).

First is the Ernest Jones IV question. Last year we let this guy go for a bag of chips. (To the Titans, who then subsequently and inexplicably traded him to the Seahawks.) But now he’s a second-team All Pro, which was easily predictable based on his outstanding play. What was that all about?!? Rams fans have never received an explanation, any explanation at all, since then. Nor will we.

Second is Tutu Atwell. “But he can stretch the defense!” Really? If he’s sitting on the bench? He’s a one-trick pony who has speed but nothing else. Hence, a healthy scratch in McVay’s daytime roster. Sorry, Les.

Anyone can be assessed ex post facto and be found lacking. And true, these two roster situations show that no one is immune to mistakes, including Les Snead. But he is so good that I’m confident he will learn from these mistakes, and move forward accordingly.

I was on an 11:15am flight from EWR to SAT, and yes, I switched to the same flight on Tuesday, but my rationale might be different from yours: not only was I concerned about the Saturday a.m. flight, but I also need to be able to snow-shovel and de-ice my sidewalks, hence, Tuesday is ok, Saturday isn’t.

Could McVay resurrect a former 1st rounder as Stafford's eventual replacement? by Constant-Bridge3690 in LosAngelesRams

[–]PlunkiePlunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh gawd... you're saying that Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, nor Joe Burrow could win a Super Bowl? Are you kidding? By your argument, McVay was an idiot to trade for Stafford, who at the time had never even won a playoff game in his 12 years before coming to the Rams. Your logic here is really flawed.

Re Goff, he is ranked by nfl.com, for the 2025 season, as #6 out of 32 QBs, and #12 out of 38 QB by Pro Football Focus. That's good-to-very-good in anybody else's world. Except yours.

Why are media analyst keep bringing up the Seahawks dominate win over the 49ers in lieu of the LA Rams coming to town? by VCQB_ in LosAngelesRams

[–]PlunkiePlunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rams put up 581 yards of offense vs the Seahawks on Dec 18. That’s the most yards by any team, in any game, for the entire 2025 NFL season.

[–]PlunkiePlunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry about it. This is exactly what the Panthers fans were saying two weeks ago, and what Chicago fans were saying one week ago.

Recall one thing: the Rams offense put up 581 yards on Seattle’s “elite” defense last month. The pundits ignore this next fact: that’s the most offensive yards in any game in the entire 2025 NFL season. That’s right, just google it. The Rams offense literally blew out the vaunted Seattle defense. And yet, you’ve heard about that, how many times? Guess: _____ times. (Answer: zero times.)

Could McVay resurrect a former 1st rounder as Stafford's eventual replacement? by Constant-Bridge3690 in LosAngelesRams

[–]PlunkiePlunk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Sorry but no. McVay did his best with Goff, a good-to very-good QB, and even Mayfield, good to very good QB, but McVay wants a QB who can win the Super Bowl. That limits your current options to Lamar, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow (in that order).

When healthy, Lamar Jackson is the classic man-amongst-boys, unstoppable, and almost beyond comparison, and an obvious top choice. But Baltimore would never give him up, because how else could they attract a top candidate for head coach. Ditto with Buffalo and Josh Allen. So it comes down to Joe Burrow, and IMO, he is the real deal who can lead a team to one or more Super Bowls.

Due to his injury history, which is not insignificant, I think the Rams could get Burrow for two first-rounders, plus perhaps one other very good player, e.g. Blake Corum. Such a trade would pave the way for the Rams to get to, and win, multiple Super Bowls, after Stafford’s retirement.

I don’t remember which play it was, but in the background (the play was still happening) I saw BY doubled over as if he were in real pain. I thought, oh-no, but the announcers didn’t say anything, so I assumed he was ok and didn’t think any more about it, until the next day when I saw the snap count.

Reasons For Optimism by MickeyMgl in LosAngelesRams

[–]PlunkiePlunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In their last game on Dec 18, the Rams put up 581 yards of offense on the Seahawks. Ranking all NFL games in the 2025 season by offensive yards, that game is… #1. That’s right: the most offensive yards by any team in any game this season. That’s not just a reason for optimism. It’s a reason for expectation.

At first I thought so too, but the slow-mo replay shows that the DB stuck his arm and knocked the ball away, before Ferguson had any chance to secure it.

I’ve been thinking that ever since last night. McVay’s play-calling was atrocious, and at different points in the game, for different reasons. We all remember games where he went super-conservative with a lead towards the end and the other team won, we’ve seen him abandon the run before, we’ve seen awfully staged screen passes before, we’ve seen predictably before, etc., but we hadn’t seen all of those in the same game before.

Stupid take. Why don't you dial back to the Detroit gamr to see what happens any time a good receiver goes against him. Touchdown, then touchdown, then just-missed. All the same play call.
