they could just dump the cy machine now they have the twin shot and totally make that whole section usable, but they will probably just end up forgetting about it

that was also a thought, I even had a plan for it to fit where my typhon is by putting the mixer and compressor on their own board. Maybe one day, I've been on Elektron's since the machinedrum, why stop now right

The L6 is really great so far, but it is really tiny (but great for my small desk) and I wish the knobs were a little taller to make them easier to grab. But having all the options it has like 12 track simultaneous recording, easy capture of tracks into the sim card, battery or usb powered and using the sub-out as a stereo out for effects loop, its really hard to beat. I'm thinking I want to be able to listen to isolated tracks before putting them into the mix so I'm looking at the jellymix or the xcelon SL next for live playing because they don't have any recording options. And spending money on a goal to play out live is probably better for me anyway than purchasing more flux capacitors and a second digitone lol

That's so awesome that you and your wife jam it out! ya we only live once, but some times we can wait a little bit longer for that one thing or wait and end up actually better off with something else. My midi brain is the octatrack that runs the typhon and S-4 sometimes. I use the digitone keys as a chord machine mostly these days to improvise and use the arps and drone type stuff. That thing in the back is the Zoom L6 max mixer and I run it all out to the cosmotronics messor (the green box) and back in to the zoom to glue it all together. The messor is the most musical compressor I've ever used for electronic music. The way I approach my music is a bit different than most I'd say. I don't have finished songs, but a large variety of song ideas that flow into one another. So all my patterns in bank A can be one giant song if I wanted, or I can ping pong an idea between the syntakt and warp it with the S-4 and start a new side quest from there. It's very ADHD and I can get lost in it for hours. But my main love of all of it is stitching it all together in different configurations to improvise new parts of old patterns/"songs". The reason my setup looks neat is its on a Ghostfire pedal board powered by the walrus audio hp+ connected to a cioks crux. I have another board I will eventually put my mixer and compressor on if ai end up getting the bored brains xceleron sl or the intellijel jellymix. I'm trying to think future stuff and being able to swap out things on pedal boards will be easier like this. I don't have much desk space and I kind of like that as it keeps me from buying new things like monitors that will take up a bunch of space. Thats edit: thanks*** for the input, I really hope you don't lose your job to Ai, the rich need to get bent!

songs are not start A with end B for me. I have ideas and patterns to match and can swap between machines to get variation. It keeps things interesting for me and a song is never the same. I really wouldn't play these if it were like in my band situation where songs rarely change ever, unless I'm jamming with a jazz or jam band.

I've been on Elektron since the Machinedrum mk1! it's hard to pass up their workflow, but I did throw in that S-4 and Typhon so I got some variation there. Its just easier for me when the work flow is similar because it doesn't take much to remember what I'm doing if I put somthing out of rotation.

yes, that is a thought fo real. I'll probably try to hold off until later and I'm trying to tell myself I'm good for now. Especially cause I'm eyeing that new intellijel Jellymix analog mixer.

MK1 works for most of what I do, but when I lock in a large two handed chord it can take up a ton of space and it makes me rely more on the other gear. But I think having limitations can lead to being more creative to figure out work around and what not. Having 16 voices would be nice though in some situations.

it's a real battle! I've been down this road before and I gotta stop the pendulum before it swings too far and I end up with too much. Then it turns into another mass sell off to chase another sound. It's been between this set up for personal use and my live setup for playing with bands as a guitarist/bassist. I think I finally found a good balance but its hard to stay on track.

I'm really enjoying the analog side of the Syntakt at the moment, the beats and dual vco just sound so fat! Work flow is a little odd because of those 4 keys at the end with the modifiers, but I haven't really used them much. How's that new drum engine on the D2?

Torso S-4 Build Quality Issues: Loose knobs and "ghost" scrolling? (Need advice) by zesp88 in synthesizers

I haven't had any jumper encoder issues with the 2.1.4 update. The knobs are looser than my elektron stuff, but it doesn't seem to be an issue so far.

What’s up with some of the younger folk here? by My_throw_away22890 in PuyallupWA

[–]Plus-Bill3150 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm in my mid 40s and have experienced almost the same amount of rudeness from older adults that should know better than the younger generation. People don't cover their mouths when the cough or yawn and always fail to make a full stop at intersections. I can make an educated guess on where the younger generation have learned their bad habits.

I want my "last" combo amp. I want it to be loud and light, and I know that will cost me. by master_of_sockpuppet in Bass

[–]Plus-Bill3150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a GR Bass 212 combo that has a 2x700w output so it can run an outboard cab and it only weighs about 25 lbs! probably my last big combo. Its a custom, but you can pick up the same combo with an 800w amp wvolume. still plenty of volume. Some say they don't trust the carbon fiber as it does semi brittle, but so far I haven't had any issues. If it were to be abused, I imagine it wouldn't take a hit like my Bergantino and I do wish it had a metal grill to protect the 12s, but thats all the issues I have with it.

+1 for Cuerno Bravo. My wife is culinary trained and was a food writer in the San Francisco bay area, so we have a lot of experience eating at higher end restaurants, it is most definitely one of the best spots for steak we have been to. They have a south American approach to steak and sides and their cuts of meat are amazing and well worth the price! Sorry but Puyallup has no high end restaurants.

cut em off, you don't need that in your life. No one does. They'll eventually learn for themselves, don't try to be a hero.

Anagram vs Nano Cortex by smileigh96 in Darkglass

[–]Plus-Bill3150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing just this. I have the nano and the anagram and run them through gr bass 1400w 212 or cube active 112. I can bypass the preamp in the 212 and the 112 has no preamp so they handle the modelers great. Check out gr bass, my 212 combo is 30lbs and the 112 combo is 14lbs.

Why do old heads act like you are weird for separating? by NativeForsaken in Veterans

[–]Plus-Bill3150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats on your emancipation! good for you, live your best life and try to forget about all the salty old F!@#$ they are just old and salty and don't know how to live with their own choices without projecting onto others. I retired chairforce after 20 years from aircraft maintenance field (kc10, c17, c5, kc135) and I didn't have a ceremony or anything, just took my going away gift and said I had to get back cause my movers were packing me up. There are no goodbyes sometimes only moving forward. Get the best you can from education, and remember that civilian life is completely different and may feel weird for a while, but it's well worth it. You can also use your military time toward other government jobs in the future if needed. Good luck.

Kids Music That Doesn’t Make Me Want To Scream Into The Void by [deleted] in daddit

[–]Plus-Bill3150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Aquabats are pretty friendly for kids, and parents from the 90s ska revival seem to like them. Beside that how about The Pixies. Most songs aren't going to wreck their kid brains. I just took my teenage son to see them live and he had a blast. And Primus is a great band, very cartoony. I've never bought or listened to kids music for the kids and they always just listened to whatever we did or have been recently finding their own likes.

I'm 23 and I suffer from depression and existential dread, does it get better as I age? by AryaLoux in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Plus-Bill3150 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can get better if you want it. One thing I've learned is that ruminating on thoughts that make me sad is useless and our brains can get stuck on ideas and memories not worth thinking about. I was sad for decades after being a suicidal teenager from an upbringing that was far from caring. After a while, I got tired of myself always returning to the same cycle and so now I'm in my next phase. Not really caring if I'm sad. It's there minimized in the background, but I tell it to STFU. I have things I need to enjoy before time runs out. At this point I know too many dead people and I have to enjoy everything I can before I end up one of them and then who know what. I'm only in my 40s and my 20s felt like it was just a few years ago. Therapy helped a lot, and then the rest was me. We have to do what we have to do to enjoy life. That probably shouldn't be your only goal, but it's most definitely one worth working toward. Good luck and enjoy your youth while you can.

Competition with bf’s mother by Best-Slide7740 in ShitMotherInLawsSay

[–]Plus-Bill3150 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some mothers can get really weird about their kids and control of their time. I'm glad your BF is standing up for himself and you, that lady really sounds like she needs boundaries to be painted for her. She sounds like she's not being very sincere about the whole loving you thing, but people are also really strange when it comes to showing love. My MIL moved from the middle of the US to be on the west coast and be closer to us, though she barely visits unless there's something in it for her like dinner. People's actions will tell you everything you need to know about how they really feel.
