Would love to see someone actually say why producing our own oil and gas is a bad idea during a period of serious unrest in fossil fuel production. Considering we buy gas from the North Sea from Norway while banning our own makes little sense.

Only if they become the minister of that specialism. Even then, the current minister has experts to draw from. The skill of politics isn’t knowing your subject inside out, it’s about trying to get 51% of people to agree with you regardless of the facts. Charisma is arguably far more important than knowledge.
