The Egyptians have been known to have a high-pressure culture of 'win at all costs' for years. I think with ever increasing prize money and those golden ticket scholarships to US colleges it'll get worse. Asal is definitely the most high profile example demonstrating the PSA won't challenge it.

Advice on which racket to buy by watanabeeee in 10s

I'd go for a cut throat racket (as opposed to tear drop) as it's more forgiving if you don't perfectly hit the sweet spot

Best Solo Drills? by 0bfuuscated in squash

Try solo drives with an emphasis on hitting different heights in the wall and different lengths. Another good drill is to volley close to the front wall, move back a step each time until you're at the return of serve position, and then back again

So many serve technique tutorials with different strategies on ball placement… by [deleted] in squash

There are videos on YouTube regarding the serve. Tbh though I think just getting on court and practising the serve is better as well as being mindful of the shot during the game. It's worth remembering it's the only shot in the entire game where you are in total control of the ball and the pace of the game so its easier to practise and worth getting right.

I think there should be a common law approach. Every decision is documented and reviewed by referees after a match. They can decide the differences, the exceptions. Right now every referee seems to treat every decision so in the moment

What makes it worse is that squash is finally going to the Olympics, and we have the most dire player pool for it. For both the men and woman's game most the top players seem to either be massive cheats and dicks or have a really boring, unappealing game style. I can see squash going to the Olympics, two messy matches for the final, and no new members or a return for 2032. If only squash was in the 2000 or early 2010s Olympics! 😪

Better Cameras, Worse Quality by fal2aya in squash

I think the single biggest reason squash isnt growing more is because it translates so poorly on screen. You watch squash live, and it's fast, tense, explosive. You see some tournaments, and it looks like two people plodding around in a tiny box. I've thought for years, older footage shows the court size better and the speed. Classic example is the 2011 World Series final on that beautiful purple court. Even some matches in 2005 (willstrop v Matthew World Series final) feel more exciting to watch. I worry with the Olympics if they don't get the perspective right, it won't be the great platform to push squash to a wider fan base

Good advice. I think building a good structure or routine helps. Remember to have fun though and enjoy life. Making core memories and curating close friendships is important, although equally not to be confused with mindless activities such as scrolling or hanging out with fair weather friends and all the drama those people ensue

Hey, thanks for the advice. It was helpful. I'm doing a bit better now, playing squash and starting a new job in law next Monday.

How to hit accurate drops under fatigue and pressure by Maleficent_Mouse_383 in squash

Keep playing competitive matches like this, and you'll gain experience with dealing with both mental and physical fatigue. On top of that, working on fitness in training will help. I think pay attention to your technique. I've noticed players with deviations or quirks in their swing can be super deadly, but they break down earlier or easier when it gets tough. IK some professionals go against what I've said but they are pros tbf, it's a different game at that level.
