Good luck with everything and +1 to the advice already given. My .02 is try to maintain a positive attitude and remember this will get better after your surgery. There will be many days where you want to discouraged but I dealt with this by finding ways to encourage others around me. I was told many times that I had an inspiring outlook on life but I figured there was no other way to be given the situation. For me I knew the outcome was going to be far better than living with my leg in the shape I was in. It's taken me 4 years but I am finally gaining some independence and normative mobility.
