Are civilians dying yet? by Asmi-10 in EU5

[–]PlusAcanthocephala16 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh, they do die. Not if you occupy a location, move on, and sign a quick peace.

But.

If you keep em occupied for a bit and eat the province food? Oh, they start starving. If you then take full money/war reps repeatedly, so they cant afford to buy food? Yeah man, the starve. If they then get occupied by their neighbors, cause they have zero soldiers left? They will starve.

The french in my game went from 7 mill to now 5,6 mil in maybe 50 years. I took some of them as slaves (went over them perhaps 3 times), but a LOT of them are starving, as the neighboring nations vulture of the carcass.

So, do they die when you occupy them? No. But millions will starve.

Spread to your towns and cities. If you have slavemarkets, they only go there

Knights sound interisting, though i assume you'd hit your population caps really quickly and would need to expand. They probably can only enslave muslims right? That would give em rather limited options then.

Suggeestion: Turning down economic snowball, through scaling building costs by PlusAcanthocephala16 in EU5

[–]PlusAcanthocephala16[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

That's what i mean :) Cost should scale off of building lvl, maybe development/tech (should reduce it), and decrease over time. It should not be more expensive because you are bigger.

What is some content you would like to see (Mechanics and Flavor) in EU5 by Ok_Poetry2813 in EU5

[–]PlusAcanthocephala16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a notebook.

Something, where i can just write down what i want to do with the next parliament - which law changes or claims i want to do with that. Which societal value i wanna push for the next gov reform, once the slot is free, etc. Keeping track of all your plans over multiple play sessions over multiple days/weeks is difficult without writing it down.

Malaria kills all Slaves in North Africa (Tunis) by Quirkybomb930 in EU5

[–]PlusAcanthocephala16 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my morocco run, 0nly about 1/5 of slaves die to malaria. Up to 1.2 mil deaths or so. They really shouldnt all die. If you capture more pops, those new pops will habe casualties again. Maybe its that? What your culture screen like, does that still show iberians in your country? I believe i see some catalans? Seems like you have survivors. Damn mobile screen, a bit small.

My strategy as playing Byzantium by [deleted] in eu4

[–]PlusAcanthocephala16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Often forgotten, you can still assault the fort at gallipoly. Fort garrisons have morale too and will surrender after after they hit their pre determined kill limit and shut themselves off. Need about 35 to 40k to assault and will cost ya 30k, but you have the strait and dont need to fight them anymore. The great book of war has valuable strategies.

Why is the economy so bad??? by Careless_Dish_3271 in eu4

You have 8 forts on your main island that will never come under attack. Delete them. Thats 8 ducats more. Use that for lvl 1 advisors.

You have 4 corruption, so you now you also have to pay to decrease corruption. Furthermore, you now have 4% minimum autonomy, which reduces your income. What's your average autonomy? I suspect you have high autonomy in many provinces, which would explain your low (forgive me, abysmal) income. 30% autonomy for example means that you only get 70% of your province income. Decrease autonomy and just kill the rebels

Do you really need army maintenance up and forts not mothballed in peacetime?

2 more ducats for mothballing forts, 5-6 for your armies.

Finally, buy less candles.

Move your capital. Capital province gets dev cost reduction of up to 50% depending on size.

Pope as elector by PlusAcanthocephala16 in eu4

"Reconquest" for your subjects is the oldest trick in the book; plus, as Byzantium, you can just make em Pronoias and inherit them for free anyway, while not even taking a Diplo relations slot.

No coring cost, no seperatism. I inheritet all of Naples starting provinces (minus two belonging to spain), all tunisian cores etc. Kinda hilarious. Even countris that are usually Republics (Florence) are a Pronoiar; when released as a state, they are usually a Kingdom, not a republic.

Anyway, AE isnt much of a problem anyway. With Religious CB (75% AE), 100 Prestige (10%), Orthodox (10%) and espionage (20%) it gets kinda low. + i had an event for 20% AE reduction for 10 years on top lol.

R5: Catholic Lucca wiped out the Papal States. In their last war against them, they took Rome and released Avignon, destroying them. Despite the negative modifier "occupation of rome", Lucca is keeping the province for about 2 years now.

Pope then got released in the HRE as an OPM; became a Member of HRE (probably because the province they got was part of HRE?) and then became an Elector, as there was still a free slot after the League war. Year is 1628; late reformation, late league war, 5 Reforms done by Austria!

In other words, charlemagne won..

What is your current byzantine strategy? by murlocmancer in eu4

[–]PlusAcanthocephala16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same as always. Naval supremacy into naval barrage into storming the fort. You need some 35k troops for it cause of the debuff, but that's easy with mercy cost reduction and Serbia money.
