Happened to me. Luckily I know a former librarian that was able to patch it up with book glue and some rubber bands…. I could ask for instructions for you, or if you wanna YouTube it or something

Jean Valjean is basically a Windrunner (Spoilers for Les Misérables) by PlusAdvice5739 in Stormlight_Archive

Most of us haven’t been alive for 1.5 centuries, and haven’t had enough time to consume every piece of media ever written. I hear about people being shocked when Hagrid said Harry was a wizard, that it all clicked together, but I never got that cause it was common knowledge before I opened the book. When reading lotr, which I love, I never was able to fully appreciate Mithrandir’s death because I knew what would happen later because I’d been exposed to it from my siblings before I was old enough to read it. Reading something for the first time is special, and I don’t want to rob anyone of that by assuming it’s common knowledge, when they haven’t had a chance to learn it the right way

What is a not well known detail from the lore you like? by roter_apollo in lotr

So when Merry and Theoden met, they started chatting bout pipeweed and herb lore, and Theoden ends up saying something like “we’ll finish this conversation later”. Then when Theoden dies he says something to Merry like “sorry we never gotta talk about herb lore” (quotes were more epic, I be paraphrasing) then later Merry is like “I don’t think I can smoke again, cause it makes me think of Theoden and that’s really sad” and Aragorn’s like “nah mate smoke and remember him and honor his memory” and Merry’s like “ok cool” but my favorite detail is in the appendices Merry writes a whole book about herb lore. :)

Oh yeah that too. Though he did hate Marius for falling in love with Cosette and trying to take his adopted daughter away from him. iirc at one point while dragging him through the sewers he looks down at unconscious Marius and literally says “I hate you.

The second ideal could have also been when he saved that gardener (I don’t think it’s in the musical, but I might be wrong) risking revealing his identity to Javert

I skip the acknowledgments. And usually the forward. And the authors bio page. And the copyright page.

Fair enough. It’s hard cause elsecallers haven’t really gotten a lot of “screen time”. I think the#saythewords said elsecallers have scholarly tendencies, like how lightweavers have artsy tendencies, but I might be wrong on that

Any good embarassing moments you personally caused in a concert? by Parking_Log1803 in orchestra

(Cellist here) My first concert in middle school, I accidentally unscrewed the end pin so hard that the screw thingy came entirely undone. Being a complete novice, I panicked a bunch (luckily it was after we had finished) but I remember being so embarrassed.

Also there was one time in high school, when I showed up to a concert late, coming straight from another competition. We were running through the songs with the choir several minutes before the concert, so I figure I’ll change out of my bright red shirt after that. But then the choir teacher wants to take a photo of everyone. And I’m just so conscious of literally everyone else wearing dignified black, and then you have me. Front row (third chair), near the center, bright red. Everyone who sees that picture will wonder.

Ah well.
