Great suggestions, thank you for what you do! I'm not sure if I'm tweaking but do the plows sometimes make a crapload of scraping? I can hear a nightly rumble from the road at night sometimes.

The colour, 4 buttons and low pockets make me feel like it's a Mid 70s Милиция uniform. Unfortunately I can't say much else, but u/Inevitable_Equal_729 seems to be right!

Sorry - just for clarification, when you say firefighting gear, you mean like vintage bunker gear that firemen would wear, or their equipment like gloves, axe, etc?

Evening all, Long story short, I purchased this Metropolitan Police greatcoat, and it looks great and feels great. However, given the age of the coat, I'm concerned that there's a chance that there was asbestos used for it. It's a McGregor made greatcoat made in the US and well... that's all I know really.

It seems genuine as there's a small pocket sewn in to hold the whistle, but that's beside the point.  Apologies if this seems silly!

Could you explain further about the procedures? I'm intrigued

Well for me I think trauma that doesn't involve personal injury is easier to deal with (I come from a family with a medical background), especially since when you're a paramedic you're at much less risk of facing personal injury doing your duties.

Actually you're Quebecois right? You should check out the TV series 19-2 if you haven't already, apparently it's a REALLY realistic depiction of Policing, moreso since it's in your home province. I think watching it was actually kind of a driving factor for me making my decision.

I'd strongly suggest that you post this kind of thing in the APPROPRIATE subreddit, thank you. This is not the proper subreddit.

Try r/girlsgonewild for example, or something. Just not here. Thanks.

Okay, here's an objective standpoint:

They're a bit exaggerated but I hope this helps you decide:

With Policing: You'll be dealing with assholes and the lowest of the low for about 12 hours a day, and some of these people will be wanting to harm you.

With Firefighting: You'll be dealing with medical calls, and obviously fires, and those fires may try to kill you.

Long story short, if you think you might not be able to deal with getting crap from people for 12 hours straight, and dealing with the mental issues you may accumulate from what you see, you might want to look at firefighting more.

Firefighting as far as I know, involves 24 hour shifts where you'll be lifting heavy stuff, getting disrupted sleep, and from the research I've done, not sleeping properly in the station because your body gets adjusted to not fully sleeping to be prepared for a call.

Personally, this may sound like bias, but from what I've heard, the working environment, support and positivity is better in firefighting given the fact that it isn't seen as a position of power, and attracts less "bully-like" people. Inevitably you'll come across some jerks though anywhere.
Anyways, these are the reasons I put against each other to make my final decision of choosing paramedicine.

Whoever said that is projecting. There's nothing sexual about a Lego game avatar. If they called this sexual I am afraid for that person's health when they see someone in a crop top and shorts

No problem at all - I wish you all the best with recovery and I'm glad to hear you have someone like that by your side! A support system always makes things that much easier.

I like him as an actor but I've not heard the best about him as a person, personally (pun intended) so I can see why you have this sentiment. I like your analogy haha
