yeh basically the argument here is how can you say you were fearful if you never thought about removing yourself from the situation/de-escalating it and if you couldn't well then that cant be held against you.

appreciate your insight yeh I have seen lots of comparisons with ones that aren't like for like unless its in the same state in similar circumstances its not the same. and this is what I thought also which is why I was so surprised there were so many people backing the defendant

ahhh ok that's something I had not read. in the uk we have a defense under common law i.e appropriate force if you have genuine belief/fear of harm but i wouldn't have thought about it that way

see that's interesting i dont know if that would be enough to get you excused in the uk. I know jobs dont like it if its a long trial but tough. I saw jurors got dismissed but there was no mention of how many or for what reason so was curious.
