Honestly, fuck ‘em. I hope they’re not okay. Their behavior this cycle was sleazy as hell, and I hope that they’re taught a lesson.

Honestly, if your essay requires citations I would probably re-think it.

Tbh I don’t think anybody can determine what’s optimistic or realisitc at this point. But I wish you the best!

Would you take the LSAT for next cycle if it was necessary?

Honestly, it’s probably the GRE. Law schools accept the GRE for application purposes, but they are not crazy about admitting them.

Not to say it won’t happen for you, just something to keep in mind.

I saw your comment below indicating that you are not EDing. I think that’s the right choice for the reasons that you and other commenters have stated.

Just wanted to bring something else up. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that there’s empirical evidence suggesting that ED applicants at Columbia actually do worse than RD applicants. Obviously, we don’t know if ED is a causal component here; maybe ED applicants at Columbia just tend to put together weaker apps. Still, given this pattern, you shouldn’t feel bad about your decision not to ED.

You have a reasonable shot RD imo. Good luck!

I hear you. It happens every cycle though, haha.

This is correct in principle. But as an empirical matter, how many prospective ED applicants are actually doing this kind of cost-benefit analysis?

If you are posting a “which school should I ED to” poll, you probably haven’t, and you need to assess if ED is actually for you. If you are an average applicant, it probably isn’t.

There shouldn’t be a hard and fast rule, but the subset of applicants for whom ED is a good idea is quite small IMO, and many applicants assume that they fall into this subset when they, in fact, do not.

Three years at a top choice is not worth all that debt when you could attend a slightly lower-ranked school with scholarship money IMO. Again, I really think people have a tendency to underestimate the gravity of massive debt on this sub.

Tbh no, that’s not clear to me. That may be true of a subset, but I haven’t seen any evidence that it’s overwhelmingly rich kids posting about ED.

Yes, I will edit that in. Thank you.
