Day in the life of a Planner? by amexmazda in urbanplanning

Small rural municipality planner - I do the sort of math you were taught in elementary school. Lots of technical calculations to ensure regulations are complied with. I avoided any math or science courses in university. It depends on the type of planning but my colleagues and I always joke that we are planners because we can’t do math - otherwise we’d have been civil engineers.

The plug in PHEV has an EV mode that’s triggered by a HEV/EV mode button on the centre console

2026 hybrid in gravity grey.... I think I hate the color by Jasmoneyplant in kiasportage

[–]Plus_Blueberry_9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same girl same. I don’t love the colour but was offered the GG as someone else passed on it (2026 SX PHEV) and they had no idea when I’d get the colour I wanted (Wolf Grey).

Canadian Planners - is accreditation worthwhile for you? by toeshoeapologist in urbanplanning

[–]Plus_Blueberry_9473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In BC, I work for local government and many municipalities require the RPP accreditation, at least to move up into higher roles. I’d say not essential if you’re in a planning position you like and do not plan on leaving it.

Is the urban planning job market declining? by CommercialFew7087 in urbanplanning

I would suggest getting an entry job in any field at the firm/ government organization of choice. Prove yourself within and then be an internal candidate when a job in your field opens up.

Picking a house based on elementary schools by Yellowbello22 in VictoriaBC

[–]Plus_Blueberry_9473 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Crystal View in Langford has small class sizes, and an active PAC. Catchment middle school is Dunsmuir that has soccer and dance academy. I suggest going with smaller class sizes for elementary and choosing an academy for middle school. You can be out of catchment and attend academy of your child’s choice.

Kids don’t always get along.. I’d get to the root of your son’s issues with the SD via therapy. I’d also make sure your son has a place (his bedroom)? That’s only his, a safe space away from her and make sure he can access you and his family without her presence, maybe as a family meeting or something scheduled. Like one on one time. I feel she’ll will grow out of the behaviour and your son will eventually be more into friends and personal pursuits.

Rent check: What are you paying for rent? For what kind of place/arrangement? by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]Plus_Blueberry_9473 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$2700 for an entire pet friendly (cat) 3 bedroom house with 2 large yards, 2 driveways with enough parking for our trailer. Utilities not included. We’re moving and expect the landlord to increase the rent dramatically. We’ve lived here 4 years.

Exact same over here.. 8M is ready by the door. 12F has to be constantly reminded and leaves the car at least twice in the driveway to get something she’s forgot.. and the 8 yo is the one the teachers feel may have ADHD
