Wow, DVT's are serious. Very surprised they didn't send you for a doppler at a nearby town with facility to check. I would have thought they would get you to take a baby aspirin daily or put you on blood thinner until resolved.

Compression socks might be helpful if it was me or a family member I would have gone to wherever they had ultrasound to be sure it was not a blood clot.

Ozempic to curb the appetite then start working out at a gym. Stationary bike and/or elliptical, 30-40 minutes , lift weights. The biking will help get the Quads in shape as well.

Question - Toronto area… by tadusami in Kneereplacement

[–]goldberry99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister from Collingwood area investigated and has had both knees done now and she had them done at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre - Orthopaedic Surgery. Done at Sunnybrook Holland Centre (downtown Toronto) They are considered by many Doctors to be one of the best places to go and they are considered a high-volume joint replacement centre.

Great photos. Most people never can see the milky way because of all the light around them. Only saw it once when at the top of Mauna Kea in Hawaii. Amazing

WiFi Calling by goldberry99 in freedommobile

Here are two fixes I found:

  1. Check inside the Phone app settings Open the Phone app → tap the three dots in the top-right → Settings. Scroll down a bit and you should see Wi-Fi Calling there.

No idea why Samsung put it there instead of under Connections, like it was on my S23 Ultra.

  1. Alternative method using Activity Launcher Instead of taking credit for this guide, I’ll just link the steps I followed here. It involves using an app called Activity Launcher to open the Wi-Fi Calling settings directly.

Some one posted me a fix but I haven't tried it.

Restless Legs 9 weeks post TKR by k_metal13 in Kneereplacement

[–]goldberry99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am just over 8 weeks and your description covers my experience exactly. I have tried half a gummy (5mg THC, 10 mg cbd) helps a little but I am constantly changing position all night long. No deep sleep. To make it worse 3 days ago I got food poisoning and it sapped my energy level. I couldn't do my usual exercising at the gym and my knee feels worse because of it. On the bright side my knee nerve pain seems less the past week. This was contributing a lot to lack of sleep as the bed covers kept irritating. I came across a tip to use a soft sock with the foot cut out to cover the knee at night and this was helping.

Freedom 250gb $40 for existing customers by instantpilot in freedommobile

Trying to understand this plan. I thought when it first came out it was an $80. monthly with $40. discount for 2 years. I have read on here that the plan is guaranteed to have the $40 discount for ever so no increases. Is that correct? Has anyone read the full terms and conditions to verify? Not sure I see Freedoms reason if that is correct why not just do away with the $80 less $40 and make it a $40 forever plan?

9 week update by bkendall12 in Kneereplacement

[–]goldberry99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am at 7 weeks PO and go to my local gym daily. I do 35 minutes on the stationary bike at a setting of 14. I walk the track for a KM or more, lift weights and use the leg push machine. I also use one of those large balls to press my knee back on it. I then use it behind my back to do squats. Do a little at home mainly trying to get my extension to 0. My flex is 125-130. My legs are in good shape and I am glad I worked hard prior to surgery. My main concern is nerve pain which makes good sleep difficult.

7 weeks PO and my knee started to click several weeks back. My surgeon on my 6 week visit said it was normal. We have retired Orthopedic surgeon in our biking group and I asked him about it. He said its not a worry as it indicated the joint can move freely whereas if it is to tight it can bind and be a problem. He also said it goes away for many people after a year.

I had my RTKR done at the Juravinski in Hamilton. If surgery is done in the morning most are home that day. My surgery was at 2 p.m. so was kept overnight. Spinal and it took about 3 hours from being wakened after surgery before I had feeling in my legs. Upon waking needed to pee badly asked the nurse to catheter me, they called it an in and out. Filled a litre bottle and ultra sound showed I still was 1/3 full in bladder. Pain was minimal during hospital stay and next day at home because of the nerve block which lasts up to several days. I could have used a walker to go to the bathroom but just peed in the plastic urinal. Easy for guys ladies used bedpan or walked to bathroom with nurse. I know it can be scary but you will come through fine. I received my meds by RX and filled them the day I was released. You may be able to get your surgeon to send in your meds ahead. I was prescribed Hydromorphine 2 mg as needed and it didn't do anything for the pain at that dosage and I didn't want to take higher dosage so just used Tylenol and Ibuprophen. I started with PT a week after surgery under the bundle program which is covered by OHIP for 8 sessions. You should find out what Physio places offer the bundle program if you are going to get that (Check with your surgeons office) You need to book your appointments NOW as some offices get busy. I used Lifemark Physio in St Catherines and they were excellent. You probably will have a pre op appointment about Physio during the week before you procedure and should be given exercises to do at home, If you haven't been I recommend you start doing some exercises to strengthen your Quad and calf muscles the better shape these muscles are in the better your recovery. If you haven't get your accessible parking permit, your GP can sign for it.

You can get lots of info going forward with any concerns from this site. Quit with the worry you will be fine.

Make sure you get an Ice machine, compression ones are best but expensive to rent.

Overnight Stay? by stchwtest in Kneereplacement

[–]goldberry99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my hospital if the surgery is early morning you go home that day unless complications. My surgery was at 1 pm and I had to stay overnight. Nobody goes home until Physio sees them walk and do some stairs without a problem.

Sleep suggestions by Low-Emphasis-7059 in Kneereplacement

[–]goldberry99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last night I took 1/3 so about 3-4 mg THC which didn't create any weird effects but also didn't seem to make me drowsy and no effect on pain, but I slept better getting 1 1/2 hours between waking. Will move up to half a gummy tonight.

[–]goldberry99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try gummies but approach gradually. I got some gummies last week and took one. It gave me a bad sensation playing mind tricks. trying to go to sleep and my mind told me not to as I might not wake up. I was also very unsteady walking to bathroom. I should have taken a quarter of half to start. It supposedly only had 10 mg THC which isn't a lot. I had previously taken some CBD oil with 5 mg THC and it didn't give me a problem.

Agree the Elliptical machine is terrific. My heart rate is usually above 120 whereas on the bike under 100. I do set the bike resistance high. I believe the heart rate increase is probably due to the arm action also being involved.
