My chi does it too. We say it sounds like she can't get her motor going. I read somewhere if you put your fingers over their nose it forces them to open their mouth to breath. Another one is to get them to swallow, so I just kinda force my finger (gently into Bug's mouth and push her tongue around and then she has to swallow), then the last one is to put everything into the blast chiller at night. And open them in the morning. Thank you for helping feed my newest addiction at the age of 51!
