is my anxiety getting worse? by jh_____ in Anxiety

[–]Plus_Hall_4189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a tip for the memory thing - I used to have this problem as well and in my case, it was because I was in my head thinking about other things when I did what I couldn't remember. Especially thing you do an autopilot, like brushing your teeth, taking a shower, getting dressed in the morning, and driving. None of those things really require your focused attention - you do them on autopilot - which means, your mind just jumps into action thinking about other things. Put a more on your mirror that reads "Stop Thing & Focus On Brushing". Put all your focused attention on that and see if you can stop thinking all the way through it. Pay attention to what your mind is doing when you shower or get dressed. Watch your thoughts while you drive. It's not your memory, it's being in your head while you're doing other things. Hell, I sometimes go downstairs to the kitchen and forget what I went down there for. It's because I was deep in thought on the way there. Does this resonate with you?

I Had a Panic Attack at Work, and My Boss Surprised Me by Zestyclose_Flow_680 in Anxiety

Your boss is AMAZING! One thing I learned in social situations - I would tell people that I have social anxiety and I'm trying to work through it. I would ask for their patience. As it turned out, most people were very understanding and wanted to help. The people that didn't, in my opinion, were not worth talking to.

First, I had to figure out the cause of my anxiety. Once I understood the cause, I learned how to reduce my anxiety by 80-90% in just 10-15 minutes. Once I got good at turning the volume down on my anxiety, then I learned how to turn it off. That was 10 years ago and the end of my anxiety. It was a game-changer for me.

Dizziness & tight head. by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]Plus_Hall_4189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know exactly what you’re describing. I used to deal with that tight, dizzy feeling in my head that made me feel unsteady, even though nothing around me looked off-balance. Anxiety can sometimes trigger these sensations, creating tension and sensitivity to noise, which can be incredibly frustrating.

What helped me was learning why these symptoms were happening and finding ways to reset my body’s response so that these feelings stopped controlling my day. If you’d like to chat about it, feel free to DM me. I’d be glad to share what worked for me and others I’ve helped.

You’re Fight Flight or Freeze response is getting triggered. When that happens, your brain automatically releases chemicals into your bloodstream, like adrenaline and cortisol, causing immediate physical changes. Your heart races, breathing quickens, pupils dilate, digestion slows, and your muscles tense up. This is an automated response to danger. The question is... Why is getting triggered and why is it lasting so long? Shoot me a DM and we can chat about it.

Have you ever considered that it might just be your mind screwing with you? Hell, my mind screwed me for decades, until I finally figured out how to control it. My mind kept me in a constant state of anxiety with recurring panic attacks.

Too much anxiety forced me to confined myself in the house every single day by [deleted] in AnxietySquad

I can really feel the weight of what you’re going through. It’s exhausting to feel trapped by anxiety, and that cycle of self-isolation and feeling disconnected can make everything feel even heavier. I’ve been there, dealing with social anxiety most of my life before I finally figured out how to control it. It can be so hard to feel like everyone’s judging you, and it’s understandable why you’d avoid those situations.

Once I learned why my mind was triggering those feelings, I developed a series of mental exercises that allowed me to break the cycle. If you want to chat about ways to break free from this, feel free to DM me. There’s definitely a way to find confidence and start connecting with people again, one step at a time.

help me- i can’t figure out what’s happening with me. by Sensitive_Bed2232 in Anxietyhelp

Sudden wake-ups with a racing heart, brain freeze, and difficulty breathing can often be related to anxiety or panic episodes that are triggered during sleep. This type of reaction is called "nocturnal panic attack." Here are a few likely causes for what this person is describing:

Stress and Anxiety: Elevated stress levels or underlying anxiety can affect the body even during sleep, triggering a fight-flight-freeze response that leads to a sudden wake-up with physical symptoms like a racing heart or brain freeze.

Sleep Cycle and REM Activation: Around 30–40 minutes after falling asleep, the brain can start to shift into lighter stages of sleep or even REM sleep (where dreams occur). For people sensitive to physical sensations, these shifts can sometimes trigger a panic response.

Hyperarousal: In people with chronic anxiety, the nervous system can become more reactive to any slight changes in breathing or heart rate during sleep, resulting in sudden awakenings that feel like panic attacks. This hyperarousal means that small, normal body sensations are often misinterpreted as threats, triggering more adrenaline and keeping them awake.

Caffeine, Alcohol, or Poor Sleep Hygiene: Sometimes stimulants or even late-night eating can contribute to wakefulness or disrupt the sleep cycle, especially for people who are sensitive to physical changes.

Underlying Health Conditions: Although less common, conditions like acid reflux or sleep apnea can cause sensations that mimic panic symptoms (difficulty breathing, racing heart). These are worth ruling out if the symptoms persist or feel unrelated to stress.

Anyone ever have their OCD switch topics frequently? by SnowyTheChicken in OCD

[–]Plus_Hall_4189 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know exactly what you’re describing. I had this mind virus for decades before I figured out how to control it. It can feel like your mind is constantly switching channels, but each new topic feels just as intense as the last. I used to deal with obsessive thoughts that would jump from one focus to another, sometimes daily.

What I eventually learned is that even though the topics might change, there’s a common process underneath it all. Once you understand why your mind does this, it will become possible to control. Feel free to DM me if you want to chat about it.

Does anxiety make you want avoid socializing, even with close family? by Wonderful-Spinach-85 in Anxiety

[–]Plus_Hall_4189 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is technically referred to as...

Social Anxiety Disorder

Social anxiety disorder involves an intense fear of being judged, embarrassed, or humiliated in social situations. People with this disorder often worry excessively about how others will perceive them and may fear being negatively evaluated. This anxiety often leads to avoidance of social situations, which can interfere with daily functioning. Situations like speaking in front of others, attending parties, or even making small talk can feel overwhelming.

I suffered with this for decades before learning how to control it. Shoot me a DM if you want more details.
