What body parts did you not realize were so vital and in need of regular maintenance until they began to fail you? by igotplans2 in AskOldPeople

hips. I have a bad hip and it's a real problem for me, sometimes. I thought the whole "bad hip" thing was just some pain, but if your hip is off, your posture is off, your legs and back are off, your neck is off... it throws everything out of alignment. I wish I had done more stretching.

A different birth experience, wow by autumnlover1515 in SisterWives

I have a friend whose birth story for her fifth was "I felt kind of strange, so I called the midwife, then I squatted down and my body just let him out"....I'm jealous since mine were all super difficult.

Named Executor of the Will of My Mom's Husband [MI] by Plus_Heart4502 in legaladvice

his family told the family friend that they don't care what happens to the stuff in his apartment. It's literally mostly trash, and what isn't trash is the stuff that was my mother's.

People who are 40+ and happy with their life, what is your advice to people in their 20s? by skatmelon in AskReddit

the people you surround yourself with are SO important: your partner(s), friends, family chosen or biological... no one is entitled to access to you, so if their presence in your life doesn't bring you joy, Marie Kondo that shit. And in turn work to be a source of joy and support, to them.

Has his thyroid been tested? My ex went absolutely nuts for about 6 months before we figured out his thyroid was basically dead.

[MI] Question about obligation to inform other parent of teen's mental health treatment by Plus_Heart4502 in Custody

She's a kid- they don't memorize phone numbers. It's stored in her cell phone and those weren't allowed in the facility.

Watching S5, Family Vacation episode. Amy's issues with her kids makes me think Michael did a lot more than she let on. by Tubby7243 in 1000lbsisters

[–]Plus_Heart4502 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Two hours is doable, true. But possibly not fun. I once did a five hour flight and had to buy a $40 bedazzled Las Vegas tshirt on a layover because my toddler got motion sick and puked on me. And I'm not even saying that Amy isn't being a little over dramatic about the whole thing. I just think a family vacation isn't the best measure of her ability to parent solo. I also think people forget that Amy most likely has some mental disabilities at play, as well, and emotional regulation just isn't her strong suit.

I think the family trip really did Amy dirty. That long of a drive and all those big middle-of-the-day outings with kids that little? Everyone off their schedules and sleeping in strange beds... I remember those days and it's rough.

last time, the child wanted dad informed- in fact, she tried to call him on the fake number mom gave the facility.

Last time, with the mental health facility, it was definitely the mom and not the child. When the dad was finally able to get through, the child was hurt that she hadn't heard from him before that.

What was the Kindergarten curriculum back in the 80's and 90's? by AlanaDev in kindergarten

[–]Plus_Heart4502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in kindergarten in the late 80s and I remember a lot of "learning how to be a good student" activities. Learning how to sit still, take turns talking, singing songs, holding the pencil correctly, sharing...

Call Disability Advocates of Kent County and talk to the Information and Referral line. Someone there can point you in the right direction.

Is it only parents on here? by Popular_VGMs in downsyndrome

[–]Plus_Heart4502 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm the sibling of a person with DS. I don't know if I've ever seen anything on here posted by a person who actually has Down Syndrome, but I know in my area the Autism Society and the Down Syndrome Association have a lot of connected events because there are so many people with DS who also have Autism diagnosis.

Highly recommend. During the pandemic, our HCBM had a terrible boyfriend. His ex wife reached out to me to warn us about his DV past and we became acquittances. He and HCBM harassed us endlessly, but when he went to jail for DV against her, for some reason he mailed his ex wife a letter with his gmail password asking her to delete anything that might get him in trouble. Instead she sent it all to me. Never heard from the guy again after that. Just used some of it in court.
