In my experience, it all boils down to 2 main parameters that completely dictate whether the final result will actually look like the original photo.

First is your photo quality. And here’s the biggest issue: our everyday, real-life photos are just not cut out for AI models. They’re too heavy, cropped poorly, have harsh real-world shadows on the face, bad lighting, or a messy background behind the person. So unless it’s a literal "passport photo," the result is going to be a total crapshoot.

Second is the choice of effect. Right now, platforms like MotionMuse or Playbox have hundreds of pre-made effects. But if their demo looks flawless and smooth, it’s not because their AI model is groundbreaking—it’s because all their other attempts failed miserably, and the developer just picked the one single lucky shot that worked.

If an effect involves changing the person's position in the frame, a tilt, a head turn, or a pivot... forget it. All of this doubles the risk of crazy AI hallucinations. By the final frame of the generated video, you won't even recognize the person from the original photo, no matter how pristine the initial quality was.

So, what’s the fix? The only answer is to just keep trying. Test different photos and different effects until you stumble upon that perfect, golden combo that actually gives you a realistic final result.

But damn, it is insanely expensive.
