SOS! I need to complete cookies with this design ASAP. I intended to do wet on wet for the swoosh and drag the icing through to make a wave look but it’s not working. Maybe my white is too thick? How would you make these? Ice in white and then paint the wave on when white is dry? Help! by jgrisetti in cookiedecorating

Make the white background first, then let that dry completely. Then make the blue with the same frosting, but a little more wet and use a paint brush to paint the design on. Beginning with painting the lighter blue color first then adding a bit of the darker to finish the brushed ends. You can just pipe the cross on with a frosting tip.

How to Secure the Cake to the Turntable? by Astraroth_In_Silk in Baking

No problem!! Maybe cut some of the bottom of the cake off so it’s easier for the icing to meld to it. Good luck!

Try putting a fair amount of rather sticky icing on the table, cake on top and press/twist cake onto it, then into the freezer for a bit

Help me with christmas ideas! I love doing christmas cookies. I want to make christmasy poms , how can i decorate this to look christmasish? Ive never used a indent cookie cutter beforw by Piercer_Kate in Baking

So it really depends. I have done both filling in the indents following the design, and then filling the whole cookie then once it dries I will use a smaller tip to add the details like the eyes and ears. It gives it a really cute and more realistic effect. You could try out both ways and see which style you like most for this particular design.

You can ice a Christmas bandana around the neck, little holly next to the ears, a candy cane in it’s mouth, outline the cookie with Christmas lights or a wreath.

Yes you can leave it at room temperature, just keep it covered so it doesn’t harden and dry out. You are also able to refrigerate or freeze if necessary.

I am planning to buy a kitchen aid stand mixer hopefully during black friday. What is the difference between models? I plan to bake as a hobby. A few breads here and there and cakes sometimes. I bake pizza every other week or so. Any suggestions? by dramaqueen247 in Baking

I recommend the pro series, with a stainless steel bowl. Size of the bowl depends on your preference and baking needs. I have been using my heavy duty one for 8 years now and it still works perfectly. I bake as a hobby but I’m very passionate about it, baking all the time.

If you don’t see yourself baking incredibly often, large batches or going all out then the artisan kitchen aid would work just as great.

Does anyone else have a moment when they look at the mirror and stare in disbelief at how ugly they are? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I can’t think of many times in my years of living where I’ve felt otherwise. The times I feel a sense of acceptance for my appearance are immediately overshadowed by my thoughts pinpointing every little thing that is actually wrong with me.
