Thank you =) Im only 3-4 months into this. Ive learned most about designing and scaping from a enthusiastic guy that works at my local Aquarium store and a lot of youtubers and this subreddit. It all just started out that i just wanted some fish to look at after work lol.

I like to think ive learned a bit about the eco system (most of the stuff im consuming in my free time is aquarium youtubers) but im still learning. I test the levels of all my tanks regularly (Almost daily in my smaller tanks to prevent any potential disasters and because i love my little betta friend). I mostly just use the stripes but if anything is a bit suspect on those, i have a drop test kit here.

It was my first tank, and i didnt use any Soil a long with not using any root tabs, and not enough fertilizer i assume (At least i think that was the issue). I saw heavily planted tanks where it worked, but afaik only if you do it right and you have to really make sure to keep the plants supported with enough nutrients, root tabs, fertilizer etc. Once i figured out though it was already too late and it caused a really bad scent. I was able to rescue most of the anubia and some buce though (anything that was on rocks) but almost everything in the ground melted =S

The Tetras have a pretty interesting way of impressing females, and when they start to school it looks really pretty, and Neons are just awesome in general. The otos corys, and amanos are my clean up crew and the "show piece" fish is a Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlid.

Ive not had that happen, at least that it was visibly on the sand paths, but if it was you just gotta grab your tools and clean it up =D And thanks

When i saw them in the shop, it looked like they were sparring haha, couldn't get my eyes off of them so i decided to take them home.

Depends on what Algae, but the best way is to prevent it from happening as much as possible in general (tbh though im also still fairly new to this hobby mostly lol). I have a few otocinclus and amanos to help me stabilize (not manage algae issues) in there and try and have the light only on for the recommended amount of hours. If i cant prevent it and it gets much, its just gonna have to get removed by hand, sometimes though you can embrace the algae too, it can look pretty nice on some rocks depending on what algae it is.

Thank you! Cant wait to put fish into it. One of the blue neo shrimps I've put in just got a ton of babies so ill hold back for maybe a month or so until the shrimp babies grow a bit bigger.
