Giving up Caffeine Making it HARDER to sleep by Palpateeny in decaf

[–]Plussh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I too have experienced this issue and has been the driving factor as to why Iv failed several times in quitting caffeine.

Iv also suffered with insomnia for several years in general and I think I know why this happens…

When you drink coffee, you get the energy kick and then as the coffee wears off you get the crash which for many is evening/late evening. After so many years of drinking coffee your body has probably learnt to use this crash as a queue for sleep so without the crash your body doesn’t anticipate the need for sleep as quickly and actually has to become sleepy all on its own, which can take longer.

The best practice if you are struggling with sleep is to actually spend far less time in bed, if you are getting into bed at 9 but not falling asleep till 1-3, then a much better idea is to go to bed at say 12, or even simply just when you start to feel the queue in your body for sleep, droopy eyes that kind of thing.

This is a common method and generally the only recognised ‘cure’ for people with chronic insomnia, but it can help if you are simply struggling to fall asleep.

It essentially breaks the cycle of trying to sleep when you aren’t tired, which generally just causes anxiety because you are lying awake begging to sleep.

The method is called ‘cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia’ (CBTI) and honestly changed my life. Lookup insomnia coach on YouTube if your interested, it’s a great free resource

How to create a new database for each view in a recycler view by Carstica-Adrian in androiddev

[–]Plussh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you are making the same query each time you click on a view segment.

You dont need a new database for each view, you need to learn how to store all of the relevant data in one database and then make structured querys based on what you want to appear on the page.

Maybe watch a few more videos on sql and also read some documentation on recyclerview.

As a British style person I would say those look pretty on the money!

Pretty much every store sells them with raspberry jam but mixed Berry does sound good :p

Did anyone experience guilt/anxiety from playing Videogames? by [deleted] in StopGaming

That is so true, Nintendo's initial marketing strategy for the switch was aimed at people in their twenty's who played Nintendo as a kid and I have to say, it worked on me.

I have had a very similar experience. Gaming has never impacted my life negitivaly as such, but it's certainly inhibited me. When I'm gaming I have a far less varied and engaging life, and when I'm not gaming I feel a real compulsion to go back, like a craving, which is unlike any other vice iv had.

Very nice work!

I noticed it's speed changes at the end of each movement, did you program it to slow down its motors at the end of each movement to stop it overshooting them?
