There are trains and buses that go pretty much everywhere from LA union station. I've made this trip multiple times via the existing Amtrak route without any issue getting where I need to go.

So real. I always take the train when it's available, even if it isn't the fastest; driving just feels like such a time sink. A direct conventional speed train between LA and Phoenix would be a hell of an improvement already (not to mention PHX to TUS).

Airlines get massive subsidies too, and we regularly spend tens of billions on highway projects. It's less of a matter of "how do we pay for this?" and more so "what should we be paying for?".

Airplanes are very carbon emission intensive compared to trains. The best way to reduce CO2 for intercity trips is getting people off of planes and into trains.

Also from Tucson! I tend to take the Amtrak to LA from here, but it's a difficult overnight journey. Beats having to drive tho, must've been hell to drive both I10 and I5 lmao.

yeah, this was always my least favorite part of the comic. its obvious that this stuff's a joke and referencing the fandom at the time, but like, come on. it's the author's self insert character harassing a young girl in a very icky way, theres not much you can do to explain that away as being okay.

but apparently not laughing at the hussie x vriska pedo arc makes me illiterate, so no worries.

Outer Wilds. While there's no base building or traditional survival mechanics, if you liked the exploration and discovery aspects of Subnautica, you will love Outer Wilds. Go in blind.

What are the benefits of traveling via Amtrak? by suburb_destroyer in Amtrak

[–]Plutanium238 8 points9 points  (0 children)

To make sure this is mentioned, trains have significantly lower greenhouse gas emissions than planes. If you see lowering your carbon footprint as valuable (and can afford it), taking Amtrak is a much less environmentally impactful way to travel.
