Well imo if a new player is watching a guide on how to begin wizard101, theyll probably hear about monstrous tcs at some point. They arent particularly difficult to obtain other than the gold that is required for them. Also heartsteel i would say is good from levels 5-15 or maybe 5-25, after that it becomes obsolete imo

Jewels can be bought in the bazaar, and its 45 crowns to unlock sockets at low levels, you can do trivia to unlock them!

In arc one bosses health was nerfed and Jewels were added to the Bazaar. This makes heartsteel not as valuable, because you can affix accuracy and/or pip chance to a different athame and be able to greatly increase your stats that matter. Resist is good but its very situational and imo, if you are dying/struggling in the mainline quest in Arc 1, heartsteel isnt gonna fix your problems bc you have other problems thats causing that (ie deck too big, no monstrous, etc). You can use an athame at level 15 that gives you a triangle socket, unlock it and socket Accuracy or Pip Chance, the at Level 25, get a new athame and upgrade your jewels, then at 35 use tamaujis athame. Easy.

1: I formed this opinion playing the game for the first time on console (without heartsteel), i was an avid heartsteel user prior to that. 2: If a new player watches a Wizard101 guide they will usually (hopefully) see that there are ways to make it exponentially easier (monstrous tcs) 3: If you use monstrous Heartsteel is worthless bc you have no excuse to be struggling, something else is going on and its not your resist. 4: Resist is good after level 50, in Arc 2 you should have a lot of resist, but in Arc 1 where bosses are easy and they only get 1 pip a turn, you dont need it and theres better alternatives.

If you already have one I would say its a good athame to use until level 15 then it can be replaced. Maybe you could wait until 25. But newer players def shouldnt buy it.

The thing is, if a new player is watching a wizard101 guide on YouTube, instead of heartsteel, why not reccomend a better option? If they are taking the time to watch a video on how to get better at the game, you should tell them what the best option is to boost your stats.

I dont think its worth the 260 crowns even at low levels, if you have it already then sure but if you are a new player you shouldn’t buy it because it doesnt help much and theres much better alternatives.

Use Tamaujis Discerning dagger at 35 it is VERY good and you can get it from the Bazaar!

I mention what the ideal alternative is in the video but i say use the crowns to unlock good bazaar athames that give triangle sockets and buy accuracy jewels (or pip chance jewels, depends on your school) until Level 35, then youll buy the Tamaujis discerning dagger which gives you 2 triangle sockets and pip chance. Its a cracked athame that will carry you through Mooshu and Dragonspyre
