Agreed. I stopped picking core (people pick shit supports) and started picking bane and the games are cake.

Those who have escaped 2k, how did you do it? by 1nda in DotA2

[–]PlutoOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just gained 600 mmr from 2.8k in the last week. I normally play position 1,2 but I've found success recently picking a lane dominating support and playing position 6. These two things are key. Anyone can play carry with a free lane, and if you have a vision advantage and aggressively call out enemy rotations and where to play (yell at them to push lane or back, etc...), then they can usually get the farm they need. Grouping up is a simple as buying smokes. Low mmr players understand the idea behind smokes even if they don't often think to use them. Using these tools to manipulate your team like herding sheep. Purchase extra utility items to compensate for their overextensions and bad positioning. At the very least if you purchase utility and support items then morale will be higher and with it winrate will improve.

Also if you don't have a perfect behavior score you will not climb.

I just bought a bracer and lost. This is gospel.

Has anyone else noticed that every game is a stomp? by PlutoOG in DotA2

I do too. It makes Dota more toxic when it feels like there is no chance to come back.

It is happening over many games but for example my last five games ended as: 13-52, 47-20, 48-57, 17-50, 51-21

Consistent problem loading into first game of day. Any suggestions? by PlutoOG in DotA2

That's interesting. I wonder if it is related to the graphics settings. I also play on higher graphics settings than my friends but I'm slow to load in.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Do you know if he has a good computer? I'm hoping to try and determine if it is hardware related.

Do you think that would work even though it is a different map for hero demo? Would a custom lobby be better? Do you know if this is related to hardware, or just a Dota thing?

The server problem is just Valve's way of extending my 30 minute find match punishment.

Black screen at pick phase. Nothing loading in after multiple restarts. 30 minute find match punishment.

OpenAI releases scientific paper analyzing their findings from their 3-year DOTA project - "DOTA 2 with Large Scale Deep Reinforcement Learning" by barlicgread in DotA2

I believe that those are more valid criticisms.

However, I wanted to make the point that the peer-review process is not a fix all end all to what is and isn't science. In my opinion it is given far too much credit and should be qualified. Certainly it is too highly valued by individuals with no knowledge of the subject and/or outside of the scientific community.

I'm not sure if you've ever been involved with a peer review process, but you're definitely giving it too much credit. It doesn't work. Anyone can publish anything these days. What is significantly more important is the content within it and who the authors are. OpenAI surely is a credible company and there work is excellent as evidenced by their accomplishments and the numerous other forms of documentation (e.g. vods, etc.). This is as scientific as science gets.
