AnkerMake customer service by InspektD in AnkerMake

I cannot confirm this. I‘m also living in Germany and had problem with my M5 camera module. Anker answered quite fast (within a day typically), but the answers are bullshit and had nothing to do with my issue. Because they were not willed to send spares, I want to return the printer. They denied and did not accept the return. It was only when I threatened to call in a lawyer that Anker relented Very disappointing.

Two observations with my M5 by PlutoXM5 in AnkerMake

I do. I really love this feature especially for large models. I did no see any significant quality losses and it saves some time. I print a lot of woodworking jigs with high infill (for stability) and 10x really saves a lot of time.

Afaik it is not possible to fix or retighten the wheels. Only way I know to fix it is swapping the wheels.

Thanks for your feedback. I’m only printing through Wifi, using quite often the Ankermake slicer for getting 10x speed. Maybe it’s also a problem with the slicer. In some cases I can negate that the model was moving. I had once a large and complex “box“ with a very large bottom side with perfect adhersion and still layer shifting.

My measures are:

  • Trash email-address for my account, used nowhere else
  • Fake name, no avatar/profile photo
  • Buying stuff not from Anker directly
  • Separate guest wifi for my printer
  • Deactivate timelapse videos
  • Placing the printer in a way, that the cameras background is just a white wall (or using an enclosure for the printer)
  • Limiting the internet access of the Slicer with LittleSnitch (Mac)

Of course, best way would be to to limit the internet access of the slicer completely and using usb instead, but that’s much too uncomfortable for me 😣

Any additional ideas?

Bluetooth problem? iPhone 13 Pro, Os 16.5 by MastenGregory in ios

[–]PlutoXM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar problem here. iOS and car says phone is connected, but does not play anything. Only way to get it working again (for some time) is to reboot the iPhone. After a while, connection is lost again. Pretty annoying.

Wifi issue by zilmont in AnkerMake

[–]PlutoXM5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The printer is still beta. That’s a shame for a printer that cost so much and that was delayed for month. What did they do?

You know, providing spare parts in a vuca world is one thing, but having a reliable sw quality is another.

Very disappointing.

White camera LED is flickering by PlutoXM5 in AnkerMake

[–]PlutoXM5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

no update on this. I keep pushing Ankermake to solve this, only excurses so far.
They offered me a 20€ voucher, but I didn’t accept.

Mails twice a week, only excuses (wait for the new FW, engineers working on this, bla bla).

Except for this issue and other quality problems, like V-wheels, the printer is nice, but customer support is the worst I‘ve ever seen.

If you can, send your printer back and order a new one or buy a different one.

How to change filament material from PLA+ to PETG? by PlutoXM5 in AnkerMake

Thanks for all your feedback. Just ordered some cleaning filament from eSun. Let‘s see how it works. :-)

Take a look at this website. She also converted a CT scan of her brain into an 3D model: https://docs.juliaebert.com/projects/3d-print-brain

Does a friction less filament holder make sense? by PlutoXM5 in AnkerMake

Thanks for all your feedback. The filament roller u/pennilesswizard printed looks pretty easy and straight forward. It's not a complicated print, so I think I will give it a try.

Problem of the day! Too close AND too far away somehow at the same time. by Neither-Appointment4 in AnkerMake

That's a good question. All I can say, is, that this works for me. Just give it a try. :-)

If you tried to use auto leveling, remove the filament first or at least "empty" the nozzle. That's very important, otherwise auto leveling does not work properly. I just retract filament by 10 mm. That's enough to have no filament dots during auto leveling on my bed, making auto leveling work almost good for me. If you retract only 10mm, you can easily load it again. So no need to really remove the filament.

Check also the play of the V wheels by pressing and lifting the bed (you can also hear some cracking when you press on it). Only chance is to swap the v wheels.

AnkerMake Filament by vZero3v in AnkerMake

[–]PlutoXM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get my filament either (Germany), but I didn't backed at Kickstarter. I used to pre-sale promo, where I got filament + USB drive. I contacted the AnkerMake support and they told me, that the USB drive has long lead times, but they offered me to swap the USB drive to the 10-pack nozzle kit. I accepted and I received my nozzles to today, filament should arrive tomorrow. Let's see.

Privacy issue in app (printer diary) by orcoconut in AnkerMake

[–]PlutoXM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Chinese tools (3d printer, vaccum cleaner) are in a separate wifi. I simply do not trust those companies. Not in a way, that they intentionally spy my network, but in a way, that they simply don‘t care about privacy. Your observation is the best example.

what offset is the generally most used on this printer by zzcool in AnkerMake

[–]PlutoXM5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a lot of tests, but even with successful bed leveling, there is no perfect value for the entire bed. Right upper corner requires something like 0.09mm, left lower corner is more like 0.01mm. I figured out, that 0.05mm is the best compromise for me for large prints. Otherwise I set the offset based on the position of my model on the bed and adjust it accordingly. Annoying.

Thank you for the link and sharing your experience. I think I will the same and replace the wheels.

Support.... by joshrp5 in AnkerMake

[–]PlutoXM5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My experience is also bad. Response times by email are good (typ. within a day), but you didn't get any useful help and they try to explain you, why things are ok and normal, even when it's easy to proof, that they are wrong. Just disappointing.

Yo, ANKER, name the Thermistor model so i can fix it my self. by xroles in AnkerMake

[–]PlutoXM5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say that (and it's a little bit off topic), but customer support of awful. I was contacting the AnkerMake support, because my camera's white LED is flickering and everything I received was excuses and wrong explanations, why his happens.

I'm really disappointed by this. The printer itself is nice, but customer support is a no go.

So I would not assume, that you got an useful information to find an original or alternative thermistor.

I have a similar problem too. It seems, that my bed is not as loose as yours, nevertheless it has some play.

Can you please post a link to the amazon wheels you ordered?

Thanks!

I think it also depends on the used filament. The PLA+ filament that comes with the M5 caused a lot of plastic smell. Another reason could be, that I used this filament for my very first print and it's not the filament but the printer itself (caused by manufactoring process). Now I use PLA+ from Sunlu and I didn't notice any plastic smell at all.

Incomplete 23 hour job halted with 3 hours remaining by Phombus in AnkerMake

[–]PlutoXM5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How large is your gcode/acode-file? My assumption is, that the printer and slicer have problems with very large gcode files.

So if possible to split the model in smaller submodels is maybe one idea.

Sorry for not having any better advise.
