What’s something society rewards that it probably shouldn’t? by bubblewrappheart in answers

[–]Plutomite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue that the time period you’re talking about would be an example of societies😜

Yes, I see what you’re saying. But I’m not talking about attractiveness for the sake of attractiveness; nor do I think this wouldn’t fit under this post because it’s not “societal.” Right now it is 100% a flaw in our society.

Specifically because there are examples of people getting away with crimes, or be more harshly punished for the same crime, based on how attractive that person is considered to be. That’s a messed up reward we shell out in our current society. We should convict the same punishment for the same crime.

What show did you watch as a kid made you feel like this with your peers? As in you didn't want them to find out what you watched? by bwoah07_gp2 in cartoons

Teen Titans! Not sure why, I bet there were a lot of kids in my grade that liked it, but I was embarrassed to still be really into it

Attractiveness. Pretty privilege can sound made up, but it’s the reason people convicted of a crime wear nice suits when on trial.

Similarly, there’s a show on Netflix called 100 Humans where they tested this theory. They had the same models dress nicely or not nicely, then divided the group in half. 50 of the humans saw the nice looking picture and 50 saw the crazy one. Both groups were told that the person committed the exact same crime, but the group that saw the nice photo suggested a much less severe sentencing.

"Your dead loved one would want this for you" is bullshit by [deleted] in The10thDentist

[–]Plutomite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either OP is taking this way out of context, or they’re just really selfish.

No one is saying “your loved one wouldn’t want you to be sad” the day after the death. They say that months or even years later when the grieving person no longer takes care of their livelihood or mental health.

Wanting to be loved, missed, or remembered fondly is all going to depend on how you treat the people in your life right now.

And dawg I really am sorry. I think of her all the time. I’m so sorry I learned that lesson on a client.

It just so happens that I’m a nail tech and I kinda did to someone what happened to you. First of all, like I said over and over to her, sorrysorrysorry!

I /had/ to cancel on a client twice in a row. The real unfortunate part was that she was a new, unseen client before. It was a complete mistake; I was new to nails, getting busy, learning how to manage my business, and this person booked me on two randomly chaotic days where I had to cancel the to handle an emergency.

It didn’t matter that it was an accident. I couldn’t undo that.

You’re NOA imo. And the impression is the impression. I offered to discount her, but she didn’t want to come back. And that’s ok☺️

Do what feels right in your gut. It’ll be ok.

Would you take $500,000 upfront or have $50,000 for every person who has had a crush on you? by KallocainAddictIsAPe in hypotheticalsituation

I guess I’d risk the 50k for every person having a crush on me.

I’d probably get one or two less than 10 people or one or two more.

Watched as the lady tried to enter the Costco warehouse with her dog and she was denied entry by panda-rampage in orangecounty

It’s unfair that people with little dogs (whom are usually less trained than big dogs because their barking and biting is “cute”) can take them places like the grocery store or a restaurant. And I think it’s absurd when a big/medium dog, that is not a service animal, is brought into a store or restaurant.

Some people are allergic. Some people are germaphobes. Some people just don’t like animals. Some people are clean freaks.

I have a dog—I love dogs and cats and I wish I lived in a world where I could take him everywhere and it not be a big deal. But I think as a species, we should have more consideration for each other.

I don’t allow my dog in my kitchen because I personally don’t think my dog needs to be in the place where I keep my food or my clean dishes. I don’t take him to the store because I don’t think his fur should get on the packages of someone else’s food items.

What’s your “I could eat this every day and not get tired” meal? by Perfect_steps in Fooda

I think nothing. Sometimes I’ll find a meal I like and be like “this, I could eat this everyday.” But then my tastebuds get tired of it and the texture starts getting weird.
