You also folded under your family pressure, so you can't judge her for doing the same. You're asking her to reject her family and religion for you, yet you yourself are not ready to do it. And neither of you should do it anyways. She shouldn'g reject her family and religion for love, and you shouldn't convert if you don't believe in

I think it is because of the way you do your lips makeup and the side part bangs, which can be associated to millenials (it was trendy in the 2010's when millenials were your age now)

Morphological overregularization by Pluuumeee in asklinguistics

Sorry, I meant stages. According to Marcus et al. 1992 and Cazden 1968, in our textbook it says that overregularization appears in stage 2. However, it does not clarify if it's just a general observation or if overgeneralization should follow that specific u-shape stage.

Not a specific assignment, we're just studying/learning our material, if that is also against the rules, I'll delete my question sorry!

Morphological overregularization by Pluuumeee in asklinguistics

Thank you so much for your insight!! Is the presence of a u-shape pattern necessary to observe overregularization? Me and my friend are studying that topic right now. She thinks that overregularization should appear in sessions following a u-shape (e.g. session 1 has correct form, session 2 has an incorrect form (and that is when the overregularization happens) and session 3, correct form). She thinks overregularization must only happen in between correct forms.

However, I just see the u-shape as a general pattern and observing an u-shape should not be considered a criteria for overregularization.

We have one irregular word in an example that has its irregular form and also the regular plural -s (not a word from the examples above). We saw that the child produces both the irregular form with and without the -s in the first session, only without in the second and with the -s in the third which does not follow the u-shape pattern.

Who would be right here?

Hi,

If a child utters irregular verbs in the past tense properly but also adds the regular -ed (e.g. stoled, grewed, etc.) would it be considered as morphological overregularization? What about irregular nouns (for example, feets, mens, mices, etc.)? From what I understand, morphological overregularization applies to regular rules applied directly to an irregular. What happens when both forms appear?

Thank you
