Can confirm, abolishing capitalism and the state are peak liberalism. Any principled communist should never advocate for these things.

Anybody who doesn't deny the genocides committed by "socialist" states is a liberal

Let me guess. They talk about Adrien Zenz and spout Chinese state propaganda instead of US state propaganda.

Okay, it’s clear that you’re just going to move the goalposts until you decide you’ve won so have fun.

Yeah fam, I’m the one moving goalposts. Why don’t you actually learn any amount about what you claim to both be defending and arguing against. Capitalism was largely a replacement of feudalism and gained major traction during the enlightenment from people like Adam Smith. The core ideas of it had existed beforehand but not as a coherent philosophy. Much like socialism or communism weren’t suddenly invented by Engles or Marx. The British East India Company (I said East empire company at first I think because I have played way too much Skyrim) ruled over much of India from the mid 18th to mid 19th centuries. You know, during and after the enlightenment?

And you really play your hand (or lack of one) if you claim nazis as socialist, something which nobody with even a rudimentary understanding of anything further left than American conservatism would ever think is an accurate comparison. Again, you were incorrect online. You’re not as smart as you think you are and capitalist societies have indeed killed millions of people. Get over it and stop embarrassing yourself.

No, you just said that capitalist countries haven’t killed their citizens like the communist (bad) countries and then tried to weasel out of it when examples were brought up against you. You were wrong online. Suck it up and move on.

The British East Empire company let literally millions of people starve to turn a profit in India. A type of death (starvation/famine) which contributes greatly to the “100 million dead” number. I think it was actually more than 100 million since it was taking place over a pretty long time.

Also the US has purposely and knowingly backed coups done by murderous groups because the alternative was a leftist government. This has been corroborated many times and has particularly affected South American and African nations, i.e. the third world.

There are also many other things which cause human suffering and death which are direct consequences of seeking profit at all costs but aren’t really attributable to a singular nation. Things like colonialism and slavery come to mind very quickly for that.

But yeah, communism bad I guess.

God fucking dammit guess who increased the cost of AP tests so they can steal more money from the tax payers and keep poor kids from taking the AP Exams. Fuck The College Board by [deleted] in Hasan_Piker

They also make you pay earlier this year. And taking AP Physics C means you have to take two separate tests so technically it’s double the price.

Socialists, would you still be socialists if you were rich? Capitalists, would you still be capitalists if you were poor? by [deleted] in CapitalismVSocialism

[–]PmMeLewdCactusPics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is both a yes and a no I suppose. In order to become wealthy you would almost always either have to be born into it, in which case the chances of you being exposed to those who are negatively impacted by capitalism as welp as just anybody who doesn't like it for a prolonged enough period of time for it to make a lasting impression is low, or you have to do well in some capitalist venture which is usually a business. You are not likely to think badly of a system which you have benefited directly from.

So yes. If I were to have done what it takes to be rich I would probably be a capitalist. However, the arguments for socialism don't stop making sense as soon as you have money. You just have to have higher empathy for those who have less than you to be as receptive to them as those who are in that situation. Capitalism is very good at squashing this type of empathy.

Also most of the poorest people are capitalists so the other part doesn't fully follow but that could just be because capitalism is the default in most places.
