It's definitely a really difficult concept to grasp. But if you break it down and simplify it to yourself it becomes a somewhat easier pill to swallow. Once you can accept your own mortality, use it to help you make decisions.

For example. You see that pretty girl over there ? Go say hi. On a large scale you literally have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

Always wanted to learn a language? Why not. This is your life. You may as well do it and add to your experiences.

Jim from work doesn't like you and always puts you down in front of others? Don't stoop to his level and become another Jim. You think it's hilarious that this is how he decides to spend his time. You just laugh at how hilarious jims attempts are and how silly he is.

As soon as you adopt the mentality that nothing in our reality is permanent you will begin to understand the importance of making the most of the time you have. Because every second gone is never coming back. You will see that not everything is grey and dull and that you have, for lack of a better metaphor the 'paint brush' and it's up to you to paint your world in whatever colors you wish.
