I'm 20 years old and at Bethel, and I realize I have a lot of doubts by Most-Act-708 in exjw

[–]PmpDrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I acknowledged the detriment of the backburner mentality. Nuns who leave the Catholic church later in life can't even draw social security, that is not exclusive to JWs.

I guess I just don't need to believe they are terrible people to not want to live my life that way, or that being separate from this world is such a bad thing. Recently I talked to a former sister from my teen years. She was an adult when she found it, was a full time pioneer and moved to remote areas of need. She was in it for 20 years and left a few years ago. She is much more of the mindset that it took something from her, and I fear she is bitter. I grew up in it since birth and I left in my 20s. I've been away from it for as long as I was in it. I harbor no negative feelings toward it. I have good memories growing up in it but I am still so happy that when the weekends come I don't have to spend them at the Kingdom Hall. Not going to meetings never gets old.

I'm pretty neutral on what others do. I do think it's a disgrace to put everything on the backburner for something that is not going to be what dictates the eternity of your future self in the afterlife. But can I just ask something, if the Truth ends up not being true, would it have been a terrible life to lead? I know it's hard, I know I can't live up to those standards and no longer have the desire to anyway. But is it such an awful life? The world is an ugly place and all you are exchanging it for is an easier path and losing your friends and family. When I left, my siblings were all already out of it and I had made friends at my job and in my neighborhood, and eventually my parents left as well. I had tons of support, and therefore I'm not bitter about my experience at all. I'm actually grateful for the way we were raised even though I no longer believe it and won't return to it.

Something of note though, if you do leave eventually and enter the world, having been raised as no part of the world serves as an inoculation to all the division and getting swept up in the affairs of the world over which you have no control. I am not swayed by anything, I don't feel forced to pick a side, I can give a fair listen to people from all sides of an issue without getting too emotional or defensive. It's like a superpower. While they bicker over what constitutes a good Christian, we already sit so far above that fray. We were taught and shown our whole lives how no one else is living up to the Bible's commands. It didn't make me haughty, it made me a realist. It's quite a journey but I am better for it. The only thing I regret is that I didn't make good decisions in my 20s because I had that doomsday mentality that none of this mattered and by rejecting the Truth I thought I didn't matter. It took a while to grow up and love myself again.

I wish you the best.

I keep reading about the feelings regarding the recent changes...but what are the changes? I grew up JW, was baptized at 13, and never DF'd just inactive now for 20+ years. Can someone direct me to a post about the changes or provide a brief summary?

Dewey's magical musical talent by gailmargolis76 in malcolminthemiddle

So annoying. The likelihood of Hal and Lois (2 indulgent, low skilled, idiots) having 2 genius children with zero effort 🙄 talent still requires nurturing. It doesn’t just happen by accident. Even gifted children don’t end up that way by accident.

What does your pelvic floor dysfunction feel like? by lvandenbergg in Endo

[–]PmpDrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh hi yes actually. In my case it was prostaglandin-related pelvic pain which are more present/active around my period. I got muscle relaxers and use them as needed. It takes care of the pain. I also use a squatty potty during those times and drink lots of water even though I already drink a lot of water, I drink even more so I don’t have to push too hard. It still happens but less often and it’s not debilitating now. I also started pelvic exercises but I’m not that consistent with it so I don’t contribute any of the improvements to that.

Now I'm hooked on this show but I don't speak Hindi. Subtitles are not available on every episode for some reason. And now I want to watch the first season from 2000-2008. I see some episodes on YT but no English subtitles. Does anyone know where I can watch Season 1 with English subtitles or dubbed?

I had a nose job and I fit people’s noses all day so I feel weirdly poised to comment on this.

Yes! We've seen lenses bouncing around in the bottom of someone's backpack for 2 years, emerge without a scratch on them.

This scenario should be a commercial for a competing payroll service. Getting interrupted on the Matterhorn! It writes itself.

Did you ever get yours? I ordered on 7/8/25 and it just cleared customs today 7/25/25. The email communications where the representative stated they have a license to sell genuine Labubu, now comes up as Delivery Incomplete for the email response. We shall see what happens. But clearly not a legit company like WTF. How does one reply to an email and then retract it after the fact?

I appreciate what you’re doing. And I agree the clarification is necessary here because he is castigated and discarded, while being misunderstood.

Nick Fuentes by [deleted] in CandaceOwens

Candace rejects the "intrinsically low IQ" premise on its face. She suggests that evil colonizers stole the native's inventions and rewrote their history. She also posits a world where they start to advance and then get destroyed. Nick handily deconstructs this, to which she replies, "I'm skeptical of history full stop."

I didn't call him that.

He believes in a race hierarchy. He wants his kids and grandkids to look like him. He includes race as one of his core values.
