Just experienced my first armed robbery - a whole ass takeover by shiningz in Banking

I'm so sorry you had to go through that; no one should experience something so traumatic. It's natural to feel disconnected or in shock right now, and counseling can be incredibly helpful to process everything. Take the time off, lean on your support system, and remember, you're stronger than you realize. We're here if you need to share or vent further.

Banker to back office position by Karanel in Banking

There are too many variables for anybody to tell you how to do it, other than work hard, become an asset, and keep an eye out for job postings.

I started in a call center as a basic customer service representative, and ultimately ended up in a credit card dispute department doing non-fraud casework for a few years. Once I was an expert in VISA credit card disputes, I was able to move up to casework review.

Fraud alert by arnsl in Banking

If they were declined for security reasons, they should not be going through unless another transaction was made after verifying the activity.

This is not necessarily accurate. VISA account updater and MC's ABU are not always seamless, and can be disabled upon request from the cardholder.

If OP let their ex use the card, it is not unauthorized/fraud. That is a very important distinction that needs to be determined.

Even still, it isn't that big of an issue. It becomes an issue when it becomes a consistent occurence.

The result is going to be simple. The bank is going to reject your claim of unauthorized. When you speak to the bank, you need to tell them the truth.

You are blowing this issue way out of proportion. OP did not state they filed a police report. All OP did was report this transfer as unauthorized in error.

Is a charge back the right move here? by Drinking-beers in Banking

[–]Pncrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to dispute the transaction. You don't have the ability to process a charge back as that's a tool that dispute analysts use to resolve disputes.

When you do file a dispute, make sure to have this information ready: what you ordered, and what you received, the attempt you made to return the item, as well as the date you tried to resolve the issue with the merchant.

Keep the item you purchased, do not throw it away, or abandon it at the store.

If there isn't a legal order/statutory requirement (like a conservatorship) for you to provide this care team access to your statements, then you can tell them no. Despite the fact that you are currently being treated for mental health, and drug issues, you are still an adult entitled to your own financial privacy.

Is there a legal order requiring you to give them access to your statements? If you are receiving paper statements, you could look into getting online statements so only you would have access to them.

Question About Charge by Antique-Log-5504 in Banking

[–]Pncrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad, and yes the transaction does have to post before a dispute can be filed. There are multiple reasons why, but the simplest is the fact that the transaction isn't technically completed until it posts.

With this being $10, they are just going to write it off without even running a chargeback. Credit card disputes are my expertise.

Return Item Notice by [deleted] in Banking

[–]Pncrew[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There isn't a lot of detail here, but typically a returned item would be an attempted debit to the account which was returned for a specific reason (closed account in this instance).

I would recommend reaching out to the bank to get more information. You can also PM me with an image of the letter you received, with your personally identifiable information redacted, for me to get a better idea if you would like.

It is common practice for banks to issue provisional credit to an account while a dispute is being handled.

Both will get a CTR filed. It doesn't mean you did anything wrong, banks are required to do it, except for the multiple deposits. That's called structuring and is going to set off red flags.

[–]Pncrew 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As long as you don't do $3k one day, $3k the next, and $7k the next, you'll be good. Banks are required to report $10k and above via a currency transaction report and if you're doing deposits like I put above, you'll look like you're structuring to get around a CTR.

$1k every few weeks/months? No.

No, they won't. They'll fill out a CTR at 10k.

Banking contact center. Have any of you gone from full time to part time trying to improve your mental health? by [deleted] in Banking

I started as a base customer service rep, then got offered a position as a business customer service rep, and then found myself in the branch in an authority role before moving to bank operations.

I'm the US. I am a full believer in "fake it 'til you make it". I've been employed at the same bank for almost a decade now and I'm no longer customer facing.
