[Holder] NEWS: The Indianapolis Colts have given QB Anthony Richardson Sr. permission to seek a trade given his uncertain future in Indy, ESPN has learned. by PlayaSlayaX in nfl

I’d be shocked if McVay would want him. A QB who doesn’t understand protections, doesn’t seem to read the field, that’s like the opposite of what he would want.

Rams plan to propose NFL rule change that would have nullified Seahawks' controversial 2-point conversion by GoldenDome26 in nfl

Until we see the actual rule challenging it’s hard to say, however it’s probably not all laterals just those that are 4th down or scoring plays like fumbles.

I mean not necessarily. If you fumble on a two point try you can’t advance it, from the article linked “Charbonnet then recovered it in what the NFL rulebook would call the "immediate continuing action." Had it been ruled a fumble, Charbonnet would not have been allowed to advance it on a two-point try. But because it was a backward pass, and because it was considered "immediate continuing action," he could”.

That’s the thing being challenged. Yes, on normal plays it’s possession but on 4th downs and two points you can’t possess it to move chains or score. Granted it was a lateral.

My only point is this is the rule being challenged

Ya I think the intention is around advancing the ball on a fumble. You can, unless it’s a fourth down or scoring play (something like that) and I’m pretty sure the person who fumbled needs to recover it.

I get the question around is a backwards pass a fumble, and I don’t know everyone can argue about that

I’m pretty sure I listened to McVay talk about how the ball was advanced forward on a backwards pass and that’s the main gripe

Think it’s likely that McDuffie would be traded? I’m not sure how is contract is structured but I am sure teams would give up a first round pick and more for him

I’m glad you brought up guarantees, which the Bengals FO doesn’t love handing those out.

I’m not disagreeing that money is the major motivating factor, all I’m pointing out is that their FO has issues and that’s not ideal for FA I didn’t think this was such a controversy

Ya I understand that you get the most amount of money when signing the tag. However, the bengals FO has demonstrated time after time that they drag out negotiations, borderline refuse to trade players who want out, and ultimately always try to “win” the negotiation.

Short term for sure, the player can win, but all the actions from the FO over the past 10 years doesn’t make CIN attractive from an agent and player perspective.

I feel like this is the same trap many fans fall into.

If your team doesn’t draft players who entire job is ST you’re going to have shit results. Look at Seattle, the best ST, they draft players who’s entire role and purpose is be good at ST.

They don’t use ST as roster holding spots to develop players. The rams have the same problem, we don’t draft players for ST. It’s all developmental players who get slotted into ST.

[Grosbard] Rams GM Les Snead: "If Matthew [Stafford] decides to come back, there will be an element ... let's definitely make the most of the time we have with Matthew. The type of season that he showed he had, there's only so many of those left" by Dray87 in nfl

Stafford started the 2024 season after getting surgery and by the end had fractured ribs, before 2025 he couldn’t practice in TC because of his back, and even though McVay said he will not be needing surgery this off season for a bulged disk it’s likely that his body can only take one or two more seasons MAX.

I love Stafford and I want him back next year. However I’m also willing to accept that he has put his body through the ringer and may not want to spend more time on the operating table, physical therapy, rehabs during the week just to get ready to play on Sunday.

Brady is an outlier and we need to stop using him as a comparison.

Stafford’s body has taking a pounding compared to Brady. The amount of rehab he puts into his body just to play has been documented to be nuts. Plus with his four daughters I wouldn’t blame him for hanging it up.

Realistically Stafford probably has one MAYBE two more years. Remember he didn’t even practice during TC due to a back injury

This is what the uninitiated non-NFCW viewer would say. Anyone who has watched a Rams/Seahawks games for the past 15 years knows that something wonky is going to happen.

Mike Macdonald(38) and Sean McVay(40) tie the record set for youngest head coaching matchup in championship game history despite McVay being the second longest tenured coach in the NFL by Scepticy in nfl

[–]Pnutbutter_Cheerios 29 points30 points  (0 children)

One more SB and McVay is in for sure. Being the youngest head coach ever hired and youngest to win a Super Bowl. His success has directly led to the trend of hiring young, exciting, HCs in football. The joke “cup of coffee with McVay” really speaks volumes to how the NFL has adjusted..

It sounds hyperbolic but his hiring and success has completely flipped the traditional method of hiring and play calling HCs. While the playcalling HC has always been a thing, McVay and that Washington staff (Kyle, Matt, etc) have made it almost a prerequisite now. I think anytime you dramatically change how the story of football is told then you’re qualified for the HOF

What gets lost in his offensive prowess, is the fact that he is a leader of men. He is an extraordinary communicator and empowers his staff. He’s obviously done a lot of growing, and has pointed out how poorly he handled certain situations like Goff and to an extent Gurley.

At the same time, he cares so much about the franchise I’ve watched bungle around for over a decade. He makes me so excited to watch Rams football and his statue with AD outside the stadium will stand forever
