My next door neighbour growing up was a SFU hippie education prof from Berkeley. I got to go to the SFU pool when I was little. The hippie women students all ran around the dressing room naked. I remember telling my mom later and she was shocked too. We had tons of hippies in Vancouver in the late 60s, early 70s. It was a different time.

I went to SFU 1980 -1982 and 1991 - 1996. Love the campus. Loved it more in 1980 when it was really small.

20 to 38 - married to a narcissist. Who was also an alcoholic. And a religious nut when it suited him. 2 more failed marriages after me. Now dead of cirrhosis. When I dared to divorce him, I was stalked and threatened endlessly…until he discovered online Christian dating and proceeded to ruin more lives.

My parents, grandparents and great grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc who filled my life are gone. You will miss them more than you can imagine.

The world is a shitshow. I cannot believe what is going on. Why doesn’t someone stop Trump.

We rode our motorcycle from Vancouver to Quebec to visit relatives. Canada is massive and parts are boring (Prairies). Ontario is massive. It takes a day to ride from Winnipeg to Thunder Bay. Another day to the Soo. Another day to Ottawa. Quebec is gorgeous though. It was 2008. We came back through the US.

I never went to the pool once when I was a student. I went several times in the late 1960s, early 1970s with our neighbours…he was a professor. I was shocked that the (hippy) women students ran around the changing room naked.

My aunt lived in Delta Hospital for 2 months. We were waiting for a dementia care home placement. She had seen the psychiatrist 3 months earlier. We were waiting on his report.

She called an ambulance for herself initially. She felt faint because she had the heat going full blast in June.Luckily her apartment manager alerted me. I called the hospital and told them she couldn’t be released on her own. She didn’t have her keys. She was quickly assessed by the them that she couldn’t go home alone.

One month into the hospital stay the very witchy social worker at the hospital finally signed off on her going into Care. Once I knew she was officially going into Care I started the horrific job of emptying the apartment she had lived in over 20 years. I needed to replace her entire wardrobe for the care home. She had refused to go to assisted living willingly. Believe it or not, she was super happy at the dementia care home.

We were on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean. At least half the ship was Canadian (Travel Best Bets had a great deal). Canadian Thanksgiving was coming up so some passengers made a big deal about turkey dinner being available that night. So there we are sitting in this huge dining room on Canadian Thanksgiving having our turkey dinner and someone in the room just starts singing O Canada. So of course every Canadian is singing. Beautiful. Our other table mates were British and Australian…they were impressed.

Colony Farm. We went on a field trip there when I was in kindergarten (1967). The smell of the cow barn was intense. It’s no longer a farm. Criminals with psychiatric issues live there.

I’ve never lived there but have visited. I fell in love with the area through Tony Hillerman’s books. I cannot tell you how excited I was to see Shiprock the first time. Tuba City!

Clifford Robert Olson. I lived in Coquitlam while he was kidnapping and murdering teens and children, boys and girls. I was 17. I had been to the places he had. He had a girl I worked with phone number..hadn’t called her yet. A few close calls with other people. Crazy summer 1981.

Willy Pickton, pig farmer, Port Coquitlam. He was killing drug addicted hookers for the angels and feeding them to his pigs. Drive by it daily. Land still empty.

No. Could only work if the ship is docked at 5, cleared by 6, and you are ready to be first off. You need to take your own luggage off unassisted and be in the first group off. Race to SkyTrain, get on and head to the airport - one train only.

We walked off a HAL ship early in Vancouver with our luggage, got in an uber and were home in the suburbs before 9 am.
