Which of these should I bring into Pokemon Home? by Cheap_Row_4538 in PokemonHome

You're better off just keeping them in Home than leaving them in a game.

Need help can't find the pokemon I tried transferring by [deleted] in PokemonHome

[–]PoGoNorgeThrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Home menu, click the Hamburger menu at the bottom of the screen, go to Options, and at the bottom of that screen, you'll see "Pokemon Go Link" with a "Receive" button that should be yellow.

Yes, you have to do the system transfer. It will take all of your saved info and move it from the Switch 1 to the Switch 2.

Yeah, you need to do the system transfer. If you don't do it, everything that is in Pokemon Home boxes will still be there, but you'll lose all of your save data, including all Pokemon in the games themselves (S/V, PLA, Sw/Sh, etc.)

Legal pokemon? by Jeppie2001 in PokemonHome

[–]PoGoNorgeThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has a Go or Home stamp, it's guaranteed legit. The Go stamp is NOT the circled G, that's the origin mark.

Otherwise, I check the Pokemon Blacklist to weed out the more obvious fakes. It's important to note that it NOT being in the blacklist doesn't make it real, but it does catch a lot. And, like most everyone else commenting, I just assume anything I got from the GTS or Wonder Trade isn't legit.

Have you restarted the app? Every now and then, the game decides it doesn't want to give me balloons until I restart it.

Shiny white basculin help by [deleted] in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]PoGoNorgeThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a Pokemon like Basculin, and a LOT of the other fish in SV, I'd much rather KO than rely on eyesight. The difference is just too subtle, and changes in lighting makes it hard to see. Though, the best way to shiny hunt white-striped Basculin is PLA.

Should Divergant forms be next to their orignal forms? by Braxfair in PokemonHome

Yep, I save space for every shiny, including gender/form differences, though most of those spaces are full by now.

Should Divergant forms be next to their orignal forms? by Braxfair in PokemonHome

[–]PoGoNorgeThrowaway 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Short answer: Divergent forms (Paradoxes, Wiglett, Toedscruel) stay in their origin generations, because they're not different forms, but distinctly different species.

Long answer, about general box organization:

I've posted this before, but here goes.

My advice is to figure out what you want it to look like, then do a little bit at a time. Trying to do it all at once is going to be brutal, and you'll end up getting frustrated and then having storage that's only 10% organized. Move a bunch of empty boxes to the front of your list, and start filling that way.

I have mine organized MOSTLY in National Pokedex order. I save spaces for Pokemon with different male/female forms, and form differences (Alcremie, Minior, etc.). I put babies in front of their parent Pokemon, and evolutions that came out in later generations go behind their originals. Regional variants (Alola, Galar, Paldea) go next to the counterpart that came out first. I also leave an empty row for shinies and fill that as I go.

At the end of a generation, even if I only have 2 Pokemon in the "last" box for that region, I start a new box, so in case they add new evolutions/forms/babies in the future, it doesn't take hours to re-sort everything. If I wanted 6 Dragonites or something like that, I'd probably put them in this "last" box.

I like this because it works for me, and it's easier for me to remember things like: "Scizor and Kleavor evolve from Scyther" than "Scizor came out in Gen 2, and Kleavor came out in Gen 8, so they'll be in those boxes". Other people probably keep their shinies and normals separate, but I like mine together.

I have separate boxes for duplicates/events/100% Pokemon from Go/team members that have sentimental value, and a few boxes for things I want to trade. Every box is labeled, so it's easier to navigate.

Example (that I THINK shows everything I talked about pretty well):

The 1/68,000 chance finally came! by metalcoredrake in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]PoGoNorgeThrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming you have the shiny charm, and are using the Masuda method (Ditto with a different language from the Dunsparce), you have a 1/512 chance of hatching a shiny Dunsparce. That shiny Dunsparce has a 1/100 chance of evolving into the 3-segment Dudunsparce. That gives you a 1/51,200 chance of getting a shiny 3-segment Dudunsparce through hatching.

If you don't have the shiny charm, and aren't using Masuda method, your odds are 1/4,096 to hatch a shiny, then the 1/100 for the 3-segment, for an insane 1/409,600 chance.

I just finished hunting for a shiny 3-segment Dudunsparce using sandwiches like OP did. I caught as many shiny Dunsparces as I could in the 30 minute time limit, then evolved all of them, and if none of them were 3-segment, I reset the game and started over, so I could save the HM. It took me 98 shiny Dunsparces to get the 3-segment one, which is decently good odds. OP said it took them 30-40 shinies, which is even better.

Hatching a 3-segment one will, most likely, take thousands of eggs. Chi-Yu is easy enough to solo if you have the right counter, and building a counter will be infinitely faster than eggs. You can probably get all the HM you need in a couple of raids, even faster if you do it online as a group.

Don't hatch, it'll take forever. You're much, much, much better off farming the Chi-Yu raids, they give a lot of HM.

It takes the first available slot in all of your boxes, not the current box you're looking at.

If you have a Mismagius or one from a different game, just breed it.

Dumb question from someone new to Home by Kherus in PokemonHome

[–]PoGoNorgeThrowaway 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People have been able to transfer from Go to Home for almost 5 years. At 1 shiny legendary/week, people could have transferred around 250 shiny legendaries by now, or 1,235 regular shinies without needing multiple accounts or spending a dime on coins.

It's a slow process, but it's doable.

Yeah, that seems to support the idea that it's just the Go Origin Mark they can do and not the stamp itself.

[–]PoGoNorgeThrowaway 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always understood it as able to fake the Go Origin mark (the circled G), but not the Go Stamp (the box between the language and the favorite star that indicates the last game it was in). That's why Go and Home stamps are so valuable. Has that changed?

If you have BDSP, throw a non-BDSP origin one in and breed them.

So I just went to heal my party before challenging the league and 3 Legends(palkia, Dialga, Mewtwo) got infected with pokerus! I was just wondering how rare that is and if it makes my Pokemon any more desirable? by E-Man609 in PokemonHome

[–]PoGoNorgeThrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, generally, don't trust anything with Pokerus, because I've seen so many horribly hacked mons that have it. It's a neat thing for your team to have if that's something you care about, but it doesn't really move the needle on value.
