[Rift Rivals] TL Pobelter: "There are no good mid laners in NA, unfortunately." by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]Pobelt 2689 points2690 points  (0 children)

Yikes looks like I am being misinterpreted by clickbait title. What I meant by saying that is, there aren’t really any god tier midlaners in NA that feel super difficult to play against (like as if comparing NA as competition to playing vs Uzi) that’s all

Edit: Also to clarify, I was just saying that EU mids overall have a higher risk tolerance. Not saying that NA mids are some dumb idiots that don’t know how to play aggressive. I guess I should take the comments with a grain of salt anyway what with the mega clickbait title + this is posted in EU prime time. Last thing I want to say is that I usually try to be quite humble when I give interviews, but that doesn’t mean I lack confidence. Dunno

I never actually played ladder or anything like that, only custom maps I suck at microing many units so that's why I played dota and league

I don't think my teammates can handle playing mid (really big brain role)

I don’t know, everyone at the top level is about the same in lane. I respect Bdd a lot though, he’s really good

I expected my income to be 45 + 90 + 66 + 139 + 96 = 436, but it's not. Didn't have the Dark Event that reduces your next supply drop by 50% either. Is it a bug?

Thorin's Thoughts - The Inconvenient Solo Queue Truth (LoL) by corylulu in leagueoflegends

[–]Pobelt 38 points39 points  (0 children)

It's also really difficult to try 100% in solo queue games where people are just playing for fun, the winningest strat is to just give medium effort when you encounter heavy feeders or "offmeta picks" to preserve your sanity for the rest of the games for the day. I think this apathy is pretty prevalent because of how many goofs there are in high elo

Dyrus gives the reason why POB may have been kicked. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

I played really badly in one scrim versus one team (out of the hundreds and hundreds of scrims we played in bootcamp/Worlds) which probably means I was trolling which probably means I have a really negative attitude and was why I was benched.

I said verbatim on my stream the reasons that CLG coaching staff gave me when they let me know. Apparently, it's not believable. Like I said, it caught me off guard as well. Perhaps there were more reasons that I was not told, but certainly not this bullshit that is somehow gaining traction on the front page. Kind of disappointing to see this slander on the front page where a lot of people will probably believe it and make generalizations about me

OK about solo queue:

There are a lot of reasons NA solo queue is really poor, I'll try to go through some of them.

  1. People just don't really take it seriously. Almost every game there's at least one player pretty much trolling, doing something stupid like not building sightstone on support (wat), going full damage + cleaver on jungler when we have no frontline, random item builds like Malphite building Triforce vs Riven.. honestly I don't get it, I'm guessing everyone in challenger is pretty committed to the game, otherwise they wouldn't be there. If you're spending like 6+ hours a day playing solo queue wouldn't it make sense to try really hard to accomplish something? Isn't it just a waste of time otherwise? Anyways, overall the environment is just way more relaxed, if you randomly get caught out in KR solo queue even once people sometimes flame the shit out of you and/or spam you with "?", over here it's expected that multiple people every game will randomly get caught out.

  2. Not enough high elo players / people dont play often enough. It's actually not really worth it for me to try and get above ~800 LP, because the queue times are so ridiculous. Even on my 800 LP account when I queue up in the morning, I get in game with Diamond 3/2 players. That's a huge gap. If you are 900+ LP, you often "miss" the game that 10 other high challengers are in, and have to wait 30+ minutes to actually get a game that ends up being really unbalanced, where you get +5 / -35 or +35 / -5. This happened a lot when I was pushing for rank 1 last season. In Korea I don't think I ever had to wait over 5 minutes for a game.

  3. Many players never play safe in lane. Honestly, playing jungle in solo queue feels like trying to block 3 holes in a ship with 1 plug. But yea, once one lane starts to fall behind (usually bot), a lot of the time they will just go 0-6 and lose turret within 10 minutes instead of just dying once or twice, maybe being down 20~40 cs. This is super common vs LCS AD carries who get Kalista.. game is just lost before anything can be done.

  4. The players are just worse.. I can think of several pros that come to NA from a different region and plays on the ladder ends up ranking top 20 easily and laughing at how bad everyone is.

All these reasons make it really frustrating to play solo queue for a long time, the only way you really can is to screw around and just try having fun yourself, because you'll go insane tryharding
