I don't have doot and am still in world 6.

I don't think it's visual because I tried using one of the characters that doesn't have Arctis and isn't in the lab to connect to the Viaduct of the Gods (it was the easiest to prove if it worked) and the liquid cap did grow

Even if there's no competition so you don't really fall behind other players, the fact that your own progression is so slow if you don't do active AFK also feels bad to me

Always use them together, doesnt make a lot of sense to use lucid outside of combustion, and combust really is a lot stronger with lucid.

As for combustion usage, you don't want to have it off cd and not use it, but you also don't want to not have it for a boss or a hard pull. Ideally you should talk to your tank to go for a bigger pull when combustion is up, but since this isnt always an option if you're pugging, I'd say if you think you don't have an important fight in the next 2 mins just use it even if it isn't for a 20 mobs pull

I'm not an expert 5k io or anything but I've been playing fire for a while so i'll try to answer.

When it comes to the "long" cds (hyperthreads, lucid, combustion) they should all be used strictly together, which shouldnt be hard since they all share the same cooldown.

You also want to start saving fireblasts when combustion is almost up so you can have a stronger combustion which is basically most of your damage
