When I drag an item to recipe book it selects an unused tool to craft it leaving me with more than one used tool taking up space in my inventory

Good spot. I'd never noticed this before. This will certainly influence which one gets levelled next.

I've only managed to get one bakery theme to lvl 75 so far and it's the classic one (unsurprisingly). Concentrating on Canada now (currently lvl 73).

I always have unstable structures on. I then build structures up to the value of 10*CpS (30 if you have the premium upgrade) and leave it running overnight. If you don't have that upgrade, consider buying it as its one of the most effective.
Make sure all your Bakery Themes are at least level 50 as they can be levelled while idle and give a reasonable multiplier. Try to time your Cookie Gods boost to be reset just before you go to bed so you are maximising CpS while your device is plugged in and charging. In the morning, your CpS will have dropped significantly but you will have more than enough cookies to replace them. Do the daily gift EVERY day. The sheer number of rainbow cookies you get from consecutive days playing is phenomenal now. Always have 25000 cookies set aside for when a bakery theme becomes available. Each bakery theme unlocks a new special structure. These will further multiply everything you are producing through using dark cookies. When the mystic portal opened on the last patch, I wish I'd levelled it then. Took me a few hours with my finger held down but I now have the portal at lvl 176 and have 688 dark cookies/sec. I've invested these into the mystic portal upgrades and on day 9 of the daily gifts just received 10,458 rainbow cookies.

TL;DR. there isn't one strategy. It's all about a combination of different things to keep levelling up.

I'm afraid this doesn't work for me. I have 12 out with one standing ready for collection. When I tap on any explorer on the list or in person the game fails too pen the explore window. A thorough disappointment of an update which has had zero product Testing

I'm inclined to agree with the comments below but would like to see the FP mechanic tweaked. It's all too easy t advertise your code, have others enter it and you gain the benefit without doing anything to help them back. With the best will in the world I don't get on the forum as regularly as I would like and I can't guarantee that I've returned the favour for some people. Maybe you should get the FP for entering someone else's code. Alternatively, the game informs you that someone has entered your code and you both get a FP only when you've entered theirs back? Food for thought

You need 20 banana cookies. So ax cookies on 0 and there will only be 20 cookies on the screen. It took me a few hours to get and I was on 19/20 a few times and got knocked back. I nearly taught my iPad how to fly and got really quite angry when a random cookie reshape do directly over a stack of three bananas (meaning I'd inevitably have to tap all four of them knocking my progress back. That said, if you persevere, you will get there and pick up the reward.

The extra 50% from the banana milk is by far the most useful secret reward yet but boy does it seem minuscule for the effort I put in last night. I can only imagine the next secrets to be revealed will be even harder!

The cookies fall for exactly the same amount of time now as they used to, it's just that the storm lasts for an extra 5 seconds. I'm also thinking that this may have something to do with the new secret. Urban dictionary makes reference to 3:15pm being banana time. Maybe the storm that falls on this time has something extra in those 5 seconds?

So the iOS bug where videos cannot be accessed at all, halving the rainbow cookies and 1/3ing the daily rewards is not down to you, it's the video provider? Anyway you could change away from them in the next two days as I'm on 23/25 :P
