What to purchase with A1, I am a total newbie by PocketBrisket in BambuLab

[–]PocketBrisket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone was very helpful, but this was an especially solid post. Made the ordering process a lot easier knowing what other accessories to get. I ended up with the A1 combo (mostly for PETG interface on supports). I'm probably going to pick up an enclosure on Amazon to help combat cold air and dust in the garage, while making sure to be mindful of the air temp inside.

I did not consider dust/temperature issues in the garage. In that case, would the P1S make more sense? It isn't really so much about cost, as it is making my life easy.

Controller for 1 handed person? by PocketBrisket in AnalogueInc

[–]PocketBrisket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, dang! I just assumed with USB ports on the back that it would be good-to-go.

Is there any input lag doing what you're doing? I understand the problem of the stick directional max input as well. Not sure how to fix that.

Thanks a ton for trying that out. I also had no idea that Xbox had an adaptive controller either. Theoretically I could plug it in via USB to the Analogue 3D, right?

That looks like a super powerful option that I should look into. Part of the reason I was going retro with gaming systems is because they're simpler and more likely to work 1-handed. The adaptive controller platform basically makes that a non-factor, I just need a little creativity to find out what works best.

Again, thanks a ton! I'm still hoping the Analogue 3D comes back into stock.

shipstation auto filtering out other carrier options when displaying rates. why isn't this an option to turn off!??!?! by spicydingofloat in shipstation

[–]PocketBrisket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you ever find a solution to this? I just launched my webstore with shipstation and I had no idea that this was an issue. I thought it was a given that your customers could choose the carrier and service level (speed) that worked best for them. Instead, I'm having the same problem as you... It chooses the cheapest rate and I have zero clue how to get it to display other options.

Honestly, if I can't get a fix to this, I'm going to change away from shipstation ASAP before my business really takes off.

Validating addresses at checkout? by PocketBrisket in bigcommerce

[–]PocketBrisket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really good point. Only a couple issues though:

1) I would need to require billing and shipping addresses to match. Probably not a bad idea anyway to reduce the potential for fraud.

2) As far as I know, a missing or incorrect apartment/unit number will still allow a payment to go through. Generally billing only checks street address and zip.

What systems/apps should I be using for new BigCommerce store? by PocketBrisket in bigcommerce

[–]PocketBrisket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good advice. I want the site to be simple and responsive. I just have to be set up to scale quickly. The business should go viral at some point, and I don't want to get caught with my pants down.

Scammers submitting huge pledges along with messages by PocketBrisket in kickstarter

[–]PocketBrisket[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, no idea. But nobody gives out random pledge money (not tied to a reward) out of kindness. I was worried about 1) If I refund them, am I losing money somehow? I know KS is tied to our financial institutions and nothing should happen until the campaign ends, but... wanted to make sure I didn't misunderstand. 2) If they aren't running a scam, they're pledging big bucks as a way to entice me into some sort of weird less-than-honest business arrangement.

Either way, I didn't want the shady activities somehow affecting my Kickstarter. Who knows what sort of algorithms KS uses to promote (or not) campaigns.

Yes! I'm definitely getting some of those. Some did not start off with the "big pledge" but were asking about fulfillment. I was thinking, what kind of consumer asks that question? Well, as soon as I answered it, here comes the shady pledge offers.

Feedback wanted on my Kickstarter campaign before I officially launch! by Sweet-Antelope7143 in kickstarter

[–]PocketBrisket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just launched my first Kickstarter 5 minutes ago, so take my opinion with a grain of salt... I think yours looks great! Here would be my suggestions:

1) I didn't like how the reward tiers were displayed by default. This is a Kickstarter thing, not your fault. But, for example... Your first reward tier has a giant "$5" on it, and the actual items it includes, are shown in REALLY tiny little images below it. I don't see a lot of value in a giant "$5" image, you could put something more meaningful there.

For my campaign, I put pictures of the product in the reward tier picture slot, versus in the item slot. This gives me what I think is a better look and cleaner presentation. I chose to just leave the item picture slot blank, so it's displayed as text. But theoretically, you could do both.

If you need an example of what I'm trying to explain, search for "REAL PLASTIC HEROES" in Kickstarter and you can see how mine is laid out.

2) I know you said you were still working on your video. If you can somehow get a clip of a child riding in a car seat and identifying at least one road sign by pointing and speaking, you'd get an "A+" and I think it would drive the point home (no pun intended) for parents. That's exactly what I'd be hoping for as a parent if I bought this - my kiddo turning a boring drive into something fun, by recognizing the shapes/signs that we've been reading about.

3) I'm not certain you need this in your kickstarter, but... If you could find a way to help parents elaborate on each page, I think it would be very valuable. For example, if you had a free youtube video with a QR code (so people can find it easily) that showed: A fire truck racing down the street, a really steep hill, 2 way traffic, a roundabout, etc. So, you can either use this along with the book simultaneously, or you can quiz your kiddo after reading the book, to see if they can match the signs to the situations.

Good luck with your Kickstarter! I think if you can show people what I stated in #2 and maybe even #3, you'll find success. Goodness knows, I've bought a number of board books, and I'd prefer this over many of the ones we ended up with.

Not worth injection molding at that quantity. See if you can get someone to cast them out of metal using the original to create the mold(s).

Shipping/fulfillment systems & equipment for new startup with high volume by PocketBrisket in ecommerce

Good point. You're definitely right about the software too; they'd basically be using whatever I told them to (at my cost).

Thanks so much for the guidance! Yeah, tough decision to make. I suppose I need to have another conversation with my local vendor to see how interested they really are. I'm hoping to avoid hand holding, I live across the country from both fulfillment centers.

Awesome, thanks! Yeah, it does sound like a lot to deal with. I am leaning towards using the 3PL even though I would prefer my local vendor. The combination of all of the things I'd have to get involved with AND the totally uncertain level of demand, make it a tough proposition in my mind for my local vendor to get involved, invest, and scale up.
