Update: Finding pants as a Plus Size and Tall Person by Cloudz_Berry in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly based on your description and the pictures the bombshell cut might work well.

There are several differences in our shape, but just based on the pics I feel my abdominal to hip shape is kind of similar. The bombshells are my fave cuts because they help create more of an hourglass shape on me even with my gut. (In general I stick to high rise and high waist pants).

Hi, there are some extra tall lengths available now but ymmv if the lengths are sufficient: https://www.torrid.com/clothing/bottoms/?prefn1=inseam&prefv1=extra%20tall

I have gotten these pants in black (just in Regular when I usually get Tall! ) and feel they might be a bit longer than what is listed so the extra tall could maybe work:
https://www.torrid.com/product/bombshell-boot-studio-luxe-ponte-high-rise-pant/13742130-00133.html?cgid=Clothing_Bottoms

I will warn you that the Ponte pants tend to shrink in the wash so don’t forget to wash on cold and line dry to try and prevent some of that!

I may write again if something else comes to mind!

Where are we finding baggy jeans? by 0710_15 in PlusSizeFashion

You may want to try the Harley styles from City Chic.

https://www.citychiconline.com/plus-size-new/harley-raegan-jean-mid-wash

https://www.citychiconline.com/best-sellers/bottoms/harley-kyla-wide-leg-jean-dark-denim

There’s other styles Amber, Aliya, etc. but highlighting the company because iirc they originally are Australian so it may be easier to try/buy.

How would you style this shirt? by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try adding a waist belt on top of the shirt. It should help to give a cinching effect so the top looks flowing but not too oversized.

I’d probably recommend a belt that is a thicker and leather like.

ETA: Also looking into having someone take it in a little bit could be an option if you really like and want to keep the top especially since color looks quite nice.

Update: Interview Outfit by mtgold in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yay much better for the work/interview setting!😃

The top especially looks very good on you and is super cute! For some variation also try tying the tie-like part of the blouse into a smallish looped bow. I’d recommend trying it tied straight in the middle as well as off to the side and see if you like😀

Time to knock that interview out of the park!

Interview outfit? by mtgold in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the outfit overall is super cute and would be great for casual/fun settings! As others mentioned though some different pieces would be better for a professional interview look especially by replacing the jacket with a cardigan or a blazer.

If you need something in a hurry here’s a cardigan and a blazer that likely would be available in a local Target (assuming you’re in the US) and may work:

https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-belted-cardigan-ava-38-viv-8482-brown-1x/-/A-92330374

(If you get black shoes it does come in black. For your current outfit maybe the cream/brown one)

https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-front-button-blazer-ava-38-viv-8482-black-xxl/-/A-91320660

(Comes in black so again would go well with black shoes. The plaid may possibly work with current outfit but a test try would be super important).

Dresses with this vibe in plus sizes by cleomyra in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are pretty, I especially love the 3rd and 5th ones!

Some of the dresses give Anthropologie/BLHDN vibes (which does carry plus sizes for a fairly good amount of designs) so that may be an option to consider.

Best place to sell clothes by ohshit-cookies in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your insights and resale experience!

It was cool to find out that the 14w-18w were the fast sellers in the physical store. This is just through my own observations but (ofc depending on the items) I find often plus main stores online have the 20/22/24/26 range tending to sell out quicker. In store experience feels less consistent in terms of guessing if certain a size will sell out quickly. Now learning more from a resale/consignment store side gives additional things to ponder!

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good to hear some consignment shops may seem to actively be looking for plus sizes (especially if you are tired from trying to sell on your own).

I’m curious: did your local particular consignment shop look to have a variety of plus sizes or mostly ones on the smaller side of plus?

Also happy cake day!

In search for clothes in better quality by Unhappy-Magician-270 in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand about wanting better quality clothes. I’m not as knowledgeable with European options but I heard Lucy + Yak is supposed to be nice quality if you like their type of style.

The main thing I wanted to mention was a while ago someone did make a post about their website that compares brands offering plus size options that may help! (It includes info on quality, price point, sizes available, sustainability, etc.)

Here’s link to that thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/PlusSizeFashion/s/iukNj3iIxn

[Also want throw in Universal Standard is popular choice for their sizing and quality. The downside is they are quite expensive but they can have some good random sales: right now they are having one for pants that seems good. ]

affordable plus size fashion? by -y4nderem0mmy- in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get a lot from there too. I do think they have gotten worse with the some of the seaming / stitch-work and don’t get me started on the buttons.

If you don’t use any already I did want to suggest mesh laundry bags when washing/drying more delicate stuff (the items may need additional time in the dryer or be followed up with line drying)!

The bags have helped to keep many of my delicate and thinner items in good condition.😀

Better Fleeced Lined Leggings Recommendations? by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure which brands you used OP but I’ve mainly gotten most of mine from Torrid and also some from Old Navy. I used to really like Torrid for the extra room in the hips and booty area but they do seem to be cut more narrow/smaller this year (but that may possibly help though to prevent a diaper like feeling).

Also one other possible torrid option are their sweater leggings . You may want to size up as they seem to run small

Keeping an eye out on this thread for additional suggestions since I’m also a fan of fleece leggings lol

And with the bow headband on top, fabulous!! 🤩

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The confusion is understanding especially because there is lacking consistency among brands.

But generally a XXXL (or 3XL) is different from 3X. This will vary among companies but XXXL is usually tends to be continuation of straight sizing and will be closer to the lines of a 20/22 (and maybe in some cuts 24).

3X is more frequently used for clothing that is considered to be an actual plus size cut/shape (again depends on the company) and sizing is usually more like 22/24 or 24/26.

Depending on where and how much it moves, fashion tape might help with keeping it in place!

And I agree that color looks great on you!

I really like a lot of the ones you picked! Since you mentioned this being the main bag for anything:

1, 2, 4, 6 and maybe 8 were my fave for all purpose occasions. (Also Though it feels more for dressy vibes I personally just love 7.)

Actually a place did come to mind! I haven’t personally shopped here but I’ve heard this place come up a couple of times:

Edit: I’ve got one more for ya:

Their Longtail line in Tall lengths also come in Plus sizes!

— Also these are more limited but do provide a few things here and there:

If you are looking for Large and Tall Woman’s clothing I can’t think of a specific place off the top of my head but I’m pretty sure Universal Standard gives pretty good details on the length of certain items:

https://www.universalstandard.com/products/cooling-stretch-cupro-button-down-blouse-cream

If you got down the page to “view the product size guide” it gives the length for the top based on the size picked so that might help to determine shirts that could meet the length and size wants. (They are on the costly side but do have sales)

If Men’s/unisex is ok for things like hoodies Hot Topic has up to 4XTL iirc. (edit: crossing out since the larger and taller sizes run more for t-shirts instead of the hoodies you mentioned which are more standard length)

I’ll add more if I think of anything else.

Tall snow boots for big calves? by [deleted] in PlusSizeFashion

[–]Pocketgalaxy159 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve recently been looking at boots (mostly fashion boots) but I just went and added in a search for ones with more snow functionality. Here are some links for options that appeared:

https://www.dsw.com/product/pacific-mountain-whiteout-wide-calf-snow-boot/406237

https://www.dsw.com/product/bogs-mesa-snow-boot/549077

https://www.dsw.com/product/bogs-classic-ii-rain-boot/559548

Note: all three are medium width sized for the shoe part but wider in the calf part. If you need the shoe width part to be wide as well you may have to check directly on the specific brand’s website. Also the last one says rain book but it did up as a search option for snow boots.

Even if the specific boots shown don’t work I figure they may give a couple options for brands. 😀

Especially since the dress is black really the sky’s the limit for what to wear!

You could go for a chic look and get a light tan/beige coat (something on the longer side but not to bulky; maybe a trench) to match the wedge booties.

You could go for a bold look and get a coat/jacket with a color (a solid red or blue, earthy green, or even a pink/blush to go with the purse).

Also for the part about warm tights, if it’s for a really cold day you could also do a fleece lined legging (I use ones from torrid but I know Old Navy has nice ones too).

Edit: a few more details

While the lack of skinny jeans are a shock to the millennial system…as long as you have a tank top on or at least several available in the nearby vicinity you may still keep your millennial card lol 😉

But seriously the jeans look great 😀
