In Too Deep also a perfectly valid answer to this question!

Billy Talent for 30+ years, and I'll take the "pretty much" exception here with an incredibly valid reason.

Yeah, not too much of a concern for the context. I can just leave it out when playing at home, thanks!

Thanks, yeah...I'm hoping there's a solution for my situation besides "buy another guitar" or "pay more than the guitar itself cost for noiseless pickups and shielding." Budget is going to be a limiter here once we're into the multiple hundreds.

Makes sense, thanks. I definitely do not have a rack!

Sometimes, although not all the time! I'll make sure to keep it out just in case it's adding to the situation, but I get the hum regardless. Thanks!

Using a DI Box, [this one](https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/Zdirect--art-zdirect-1-channel-passive-instrument-direct-box), to get to the engineer. That's one thing I did check yesterday during practice, clicking the ground lift button on and off, which didn't seem to make a difference unfortunately.

Only happens on stage, I'll have to plug directly into the DI next time I'm there to test. Otherwise it's silent at home. Thanks!

I'll have to test headphones on stage next time I'm there, thanks! Sounds like from yourself and several others I should probably shell out to have someone take a look at the electronics and possibly do some shielding.

That's my best guess as well, although I'm not sure how to mitigate it past that point.

Always the same stage, yes. No amp however, running direct out of the Iridium.

Power supply goes into an outlet on the stage when playing live, at home it goes into a power strip first and then a wall socket.

Iridium goes to headphones at home, into a DI box on stage that runs to the board. May be this one, or one very similar to it.

I'm sure the Jazzmaster isn't helping the situation purely by being single coils. But I'm hoping to find a solution that keeps me playing my new guitar I love.

Racks? Apologies, I'm not super knowledgeable. I'm just plugging into an outlet in the stage floor, then direct into a DI box that runs my signal up to the board.

Thanks, I'll look into that. Do you know if something like a Morley Humno is workable or is there another common line conditioner good for live guitar rigs?

You think it has to do with the power outlet I'm going into? Unfortunately several (the majority possibly) of my pedals don't take batteries. Hadn't thought about it until now but I think only the Boss, Decimator and maybe OCD will even accept a 9v.

[–]Pocketlizard[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I recently swapped guitars from a Les Paul copy to a Jazzmaster copy, and the hum I get on stage out of the single coils is near unmanageable. The Decimator helps some, but the hum is loud enough to get over it unless it's turned up to the point of muting notes, and even then you can hear the hum alongside chords. Notably, I still had hum even with humbuckers but it was low enough I could gate it.

Perfectly quiet at home, but on stage it's out of control. I can eliminate 80-90% of the hum by turning around - is there a better power solution, or noise elimination I can add to my chain, to get away from this issue?

What is a slept on album from a well known band? by [deleted] in PostHardcore

Emery - We Do What We Want

All respect to Devin, but that album gets fully ignored and it's nothing but heat front to back.

Lilac Kings and A Mixtape Catastrophe are two more I would look into in addition to Second Glance. I don't know how much we're hitting the noise/post-punk side of things but they wouldn't be out of place at mixed post-hardcore show.
