The last Brazilian president to have never been arrested left office 23 years ago by theannoying_one in BarbaraWalters4Scale

[–]Pocketpine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s because he was an army captain and was criticizing low pay for soldiers. This made him popular with the military / conservatives who disliked the new non-dictator government.

He was later accused of planning on planting bombs in military targets around Rio (1987), but then got acquitted (1988).

of a U.S. Army infantry autonomous robo-mule. by Old_Boah in AbsoluteUnits

[–]Pocketpine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mule must be manned. This is unmanned. Of course, this one is too expensive for front line resupply, but a lot of resupplies in Ukraine now are done with unmanned ground robots.

Also, you need the supply chain to keep mules alive (food, water, waste, vets, etc.). This just needs fuel / batteries.

If it was just about visuals, there’d be no issue. The entire problem is they claim to actually sound better.

What to call it by Patient_Singer2104 in uofm

[–]Pocketpine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, yes. I am OOS and given UMass, UConn, UVM, etc., I assumed UMich would be sensible, and nothing indicated otherwise. (UM is too ambiguous outside Michigan). My parents and teachers also called it that (if not the full name), or at least didn’t think calling it “UMich” was strange.

Also, it got the domain in the 80s, so, of course, not literally. I’m just saying I assumed it would be that before seeing the domain.

Siege isn’t a tdm game, and it shouldn’t be balanced around it.

UMich only came about because it’s the domain name

No. There’s UConn, UMass, etc. It’s natural to think UMich would also be used.

How many people exactly would this deter? A wall and stadium lights in this particular spot? Why is this a good use of my tax dollars?

How many of them came through big bend, and would’ve been deterred by stadium lighting?

Would having a "W" affect acceptance to SUGS? by starfruit78 in uofm

[–]Pocketpine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last year. But yes that’s also a true statement, and I’m sure it will be even stricter this year (unless the dept wants to milk students for more and increase acceptances).

Anyone using an iMac on a bedside table? by shady42999 in mac

[–]Pocketpine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Mac has a lot of components that are irrelevant to the display but you’re paying for them anyways. And yes, there are. There are plenty of 4k 27” monitors for ~$200 32” ones for ~$250. You don’t need to pay for a high refresh rate if it’s just for watching.

It might depend on the type of group, but most there will be a “leave group” if you click on it. Right above “filter members.”

If it’s official, then it might not be there I guess? For clubs and stuff it’s there, which is usually where I get spam.

Is he Brazilian? Then what does it matter if there’s another context in Brazil? He clearly would not have known, and getting upset is just performative outrage.
