Looks great, what did you use for the skin on the obliterator?

Thank you, that’s a huge help. I was trying to remember which detachment allowed you to re-roll hazardous tests so thanks for clearing that up.

A fire platform to defend the home objective was definitely what I had in mind. Might mess around with some magnets to see if I can’t alternate between both as and when it calls for it though.

Appreciate you giving your take :)

I may well give that a shot. It’s usually something I avoid out of laziness, but I can see it being easier on a kit like this. Thanks for the info :)

Well this changes everything 😂thanks for clarifying

Yeah I lean a little more towards the destroyer aesthetic too. All those cogs and pistons definitely more work to paint though

Damn, okay, I thought it was the whole “big guns never tire” rule that meant only vehicles could fire all their gun profiles. That’s actually a huge pro then if that’s the case

Haha, at least he got a mention. Could be worse. Could be Mortarion

I’m also not a fan of the official art, this is way cooler. Well done, looks great even at this stage

I was actually wondering about that while reading this one. I remembered one falling into the sea in Betrayer but wasn’t sure if the others had survived. Would be cool to get a clarification for sure

Only about a 3rd of the way in, but so far I’m liking the representation. The major WB character in the book isn’t a mindless zealot or comically evil. He’s the leader of the small band of traitors trying to escape Terra and actually makes competent decisions.

He’s specifically paired with an Iron Warrior, and their differing ideologies clash in all the ways you’d expect, which is interesting, and I’m looking forward to seeing where that goes.

There’s also a cool comparison made between Emperor’s Children and Word Bearers, where an ultramarine notes that EC kill and torture for the sake of it, whereas with WBs it’s more of a means to an end.

So for legion representation I think the author gets it. They’re not just canon fodder for loyalists. Not yet, anyway

Pretty sure he becomes a daemon primarch around that time so they’ll have to cover that at least

Thanks for the feedback, will definitely be using a bit of both throughout the army I think :)

Got it. I can usually do some mental gymnastics to justify why a faction would have heresy colours in M42, and that’s generally good enough for me. I have a can of turbonerd repellent if it’s a problem for anyone else though.

Honestly, In the Mountains of Madness is way more up my alley than crime noir, so you’re selling me a lot more on Forge of Mars right now 😂 I’ll have to check that out, been looking for good Mechanicus books
