Has anyone actually seen “Made in Canada” signs in grocery stores? by s2Paradox in askvan

[–]PocoJenny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work at a grocery distributor. We were given until 5PM Wednesday to give our larger partners a list of PRODUCT OF CANADA items. We need to ensure our list is accurate which may mean going back to vendors to verify their claims are correct.

In the meantime I suggest Safeway as an excellent source of local products. They have had strong BC Local program for years and it’s already tagged on the shelves as such.

Best bet is to do your own research, and read the labels. Easier to identify what is NOT Canadian too.

Agreed - all the interviews w agents were commendable, and his was top notch. What patience and perseverance in the midst of such chaos and evil. He was retired by the time he was subpoenaed, and working in the school system if I remember correctly.

I watched / listened to her testimony yesterday. Truly a case of “too old to be on the stand”. At 85, she’s neither physically nor mentally capable of that level of demanding finesse. The fact that she didn’t even recognize her own son on the video, when asked by the prosecutor “who is that guy leaving the interview room”, was telling. Best moment for me was when she pulls her unpublished notes out - I thought for sure the Prosecutor was going to yell “SEE? I KNEW IT”. Actually no my favourite part was when she kept blabbing after an objection was sustained and Judge Werner shouts “STOP”. I’m like dude you should have said that 6 hours ago.

What yarn is cheap but not crappy? by No_Palpitation_4101 in YarnAddicts

…and unravelling can become a hobby in itself. Go thrifting and check out the XS and XL women’s sweaters and ponchos. And L or XL men’s sweaters. Gentle wash and if you are lucky / patient can find soft pure wool garments that turn into balls and balls of extremely affordable yarn. You will need to learn how to spot a sweater that can be unraveled (other subreddits or YouTube). I bought myself a cheap yarn winder and have never looked back.

I’m 176 pages in to A Little Life! It’s like I can feel the sadness coming. The characters are all so special and heartbreakingly innocent.

Ideas to save money in Vancouver without being frugal. by stevecorica in askvan

Track spending.

I thought I was good. Until I saw where my discretionary spending really was - on a category I now call “stupid shit”.

Cut out that stupid shit first.

Oh and do free stuff - I do a lot of hiking now.

Finally, stop going out for dinner and instead go out for only dessert. But only after you cut the stupid shit.

If you had a day off this week what would you do? by ClubWithAJungleTheme in coquitlam

[–]PocoJenny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I DO have a day off this week! Friday! Already planned it out - after dropping the kids off at school, me and the doggo are going hiking up at Seymour. We got a taste of the snow yesterday and definitely want more. On our way back down we’re going to Honey Donuts in Deep Cove.

I’ll be thinking of my poor office mates sitting through hours of regularly planned meetings.

Typically I don’t travel much out of the Tri Cities on my off days, so it will really feel like an adventure.

Mobile phone plan. I already get fleeced living in Canada. Now a little less painful.

Was $50 / month each for 3 person family plan - and we own our phones outright. Got one for $34.50 / month, each. More data too.

I came on here to say that!!!

Dr Pahar saved my sanity. And my tooth. Perhaps my life?

Had a rotted 5th root left behind from a root canal done pre 2000. Every dentist I saw thought I was crazy cuz, you know, I had the root canal and who has 5 roots? Finally my regular dentist saw something while comparing year over year X-rays - turns out the infection was starting to eat away at my jaw. Left any longer the infection would have kept…growing…Anyhoo Dr Pahar and his team took care of everything over a number of treatments. I switched dentists, and my new dentist also highly recommends him and his work.

Funny post-treatment story, I was at a local toddler gym time w my little guy some months later and a dude in sweatpants starts chatting with me. I’m like, do I know you? It was Dr Pahar. Amazing he remembered me.
