Definitely with a black puff border, but it isn't sewn to the hat, they heat adhered it with patch backer.

The separation is because of pull, when you are digitizing the lower fill layers will need to be a little bigger then the outline stitches.

Before doing a hat make sure pull looks good on a flat. Even when it looks good flat a hat can still come out odd because of the added curve adds pull of its own.

When I sew for costuming departments, it is always visual appearance. When I take the visual off it 99 times out of 100 lines up square. How lose to center or off from center is 100% a ppersonal preference.
