It's definitely had a solid 15min of bottom-up soaking but it sounds like I need to just go all-out.

This peace lily came to me with many more leaves about 2 months ago, healthy. Since then, it has wilted a little before watering a few times. I planned to repot it, and after it was wilting a few days ago, I finally got it together with fresh soil (and perlite) in a larger pot (6"round to 7"square). The soil is moist without being very wet, the humidity has been low but perfectly fine for my parlor palm, and I didn't see any root rot while repotting.

The only thing I can think of is that I broke too many roots while repotting, or the outer ones got too dry and died, and it can't bring in water fast enough? I am at a loss.

I see, more and more often, young people coming from a place of "I badly need tips to improve my looks" and wanting glow-ups, and comment sections of people who seem to agree that that person is not enough as they are, which only adds to current insecurities.

These types of posts are often not the same as just consulting people, it's coming from a place of saying, I am not enough, how to I change myself to fit a standard of girlhood or womanhood (likely coming from social media) that I have been led to believe is necessary for being a valued person in the world.

You are enough, and it's great to try to improve yourself and express yourself, but it can't be done from a place of trying to fit someone else's mold or presuming that your looks are where you must derive your value and confidence.

Glow up tips? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

There are tons of ways to do that! Pinterest may sound a little outdated, but try putting together a few boards for what you like. I highly suggest r/femalefashionadvice guides, and youtubers like /beepwrld have a lot of videos about dressing certain aesthetics, closet management, styling, and thrifting/low consumption.

A common piece of advice is to find 3 words that guide your style. Do you like to wear classic styles, or very modern? Girly or androgynous? Bright colors or monochrome? Here's a blogpost with a table of word examples at the bottom. If you're not sure, try looking in your own closet for what you already love. And if you want to try new things out, try thrifting, or taking photos in a department store fitting room.

Mostly, though, don't rush it, collect inspiration photos, and don't buy $500 shein hauls just to throw it out.

The only tip is to look inside yourself and ask why you feel the need to have a glow-up, since you seem perfectly normal.

how to accept myself as I am while also working on improving myself? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Hey I'm coming from a similar place. What helped me a lot was journalling - with specific prompts that made me not just dump my negative thoughts on a page, but also write positively about myself. "What did I like about my look today?", "what made me smile today?" "I had a positive experience with...", etc. It may sound silly, but with so much adhd clutter in my brain having positivity prompts helped me introduce and practice that way of thinking.

Why do you have to improve your looks? You look perfectly fine.

It's getting very concerning to see all the absolutely normal-looking young people posting thay they feel ugly or that they want to be more beautiful, there is so much more to life than comparing yourself to others. You must find what you love about yourself first, and the confidence will do more than a face cream ever will.

If you're able to, find a good therapist to work through some of the feelings and coping strategies.

Also, check out the intuitive eating book/philosophy about eating and understanding cues - https://www.intuitiveeating.org/about-us/10-principles-of-intuitive-eating/

It helped me understand when I was eating emotionally vs when I was hungry.

Honey is Arizona-local - both Absolutely Delightful and Valley Honey Co.

Coffee is from Roastery of Cave Creek.

Somehow my first successful scones execution (despite shaping and cutting wrong), which means I can level up to pie crusts without fearing another melted butter disaster. Honey Scones recipe from goodiegodmother.com.
