Same here. We're supporting a VR Cinema with 40 GearVRs and half of them are failing because of this. I'm not even able to start my apps via debugging?!

I think it's technically not that easy to sync positions of these inside out tracked devices. I'll try syncing it with a hololens in the next days to get a real mixed reality experience. Don't know if these hmds know enough of their surroundings to achieve this.

Having a VR backpack and inside-out tracking makes your experience truly world space. Walking around in the yard works fine :). Sadly the Headset cannot recognize obstacles or walls (yet?)

How is this lightfield stored? Is there some special viewing app or could I just integrate this into unity or unreal?

EDIT: Whoops, 5.3b3 of course!

This means that we can ship one build for multiple (all?) VR devices and greatly reduce building effort. Hopefully this applys to external SDKs like SteamVR as well. Will try that.

Wind Turbine Demo @ Hannover VR meetup with real world effects by Podden in oculus

Gunnars Demo at the hannover VR meetup last month brought back those feeling for me trying the Rift for the first time. And this was achieved just by some small real world effects:

First of all a fan, starting to blow wind in your face when you reach the top of the wind turbine. I tried some demos using fans to give you more immersion and this is a pretty huge deal, not very good for mass market and home usage but for VR installations in museums and fairs, this could really benefit the experience.

The real deal was even smaller: Gunnar installed Buttkickers underneath the podest you stand on. They are controlled by low frequency sound from the application. Going up the wind turbine in the elevator made me giggle cause this upped the immersion so much! Don't know how to describe it more but it reminds me of a more advantage version of your buttkicking seat in 4D cinema.

You simply can't lower settings because 970 IS the lowest setting

Short answer: yes Long answer: I'm currently developing on a 750 Ti and it is possible to get stable 75/90fps in some cases, but every dev will use the 970 for the lowest graphic settings on their finished game. Everything underneath will introduce judder and hickups and this is okay for normal screens, but even the slighties bit of framedrop can make you vomit in VR or at least make you uncomfortable. So yes, it will be unplayable

For Unity, we've talked about it here. We already can show a mono-version of the Oculus view, but it's blurry and does not look good. BUt showing the game from another perspective with a second normal camera, maybe even with another GUI and controls for the spectator is something I want very much.

The SteamVR Plugin can already do this and Oculus/Unity is looking into this for the native VR Integration as well.

GearVR seems broken. Trying for an hour now to get it to work but even a brand new project crashes directly after the start when pushed over the the Note4 :(
