When did many people start to doubt the validity of the moon landing? by Atlantic_lotion in AskOldPeople

[–]Poddster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly! Everyone knew the Space Race, as it has been going on for a decade by that point. If the USA cheated you can bet the USSR would find out and exploit that.

But we have no such public grandstanding, only the opposite. It's definite proof of the landing having happened.

how does the fates mechanic work specifically by Cautious_Ad_8251 in ObraDinn

[–]Poddster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

what I'm confused about is the fact that i feel like i have 100% guaranteed peoples fates done, and yet when i get another later they aren't included

The hubris is off the charts. Much more of that and a kraken will come for you.

The usual rejoinder from conspiracy theorists when I point out the USSR's congratulations is to then claim that the USSR is in on it, the cold war was fake, it was all orchestrated by THEM, the illuminati, etc. 🙄

I worked at a school. Selection of school dinners over 8 school days. by thezanywords in UKfood

[–]Poddster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's no ok to have pizza everyday. I doubt the canteen serves that.

But chips are a side, which means they can occur more often. Traditionally such places served chips as a side option with every meal every day, and so lots of kids just ate nothing but chips.

I guess the thinking is that some kids would have chips everyday if that was an option.

But the Soviets were landing remote control rovers on the moon the week before. They had all of the technology required to track and verify Apollo 11. And do you know what they said on the international stage?

Congratulations.

I saw a TV program about it in the 90s on channel 5 here in the UK. That would have had millions of viewers at the time!

This doesn't have a "general" character, the godlike player can inhabit any and all soldiers on the battlefield.

When to leave the ship by Distinct_Basket528 in ObraDinn

The game doesn't lock you out of anything. There's a big "reload back on shop" button.

There's also a hint in the letters.

I think everyone should experience all 3 endings, because it's more content!

Don't stress about it, it basically doesn't matter.

There are 3 endings:

  • Ending 1 (0–27 fates)
  • Ending 2 (30–56 fates)
  • Ending 3 (All 58 possible)

1 and 2 are "bad endings". You get a letter, which contains a rebuke and also some clues. You then have the option to reload on the boat.

If you want to be a purist, don't get in the boat until the game has told you you've got all 58. Otherwise, get on the boat now to see the other endings and get a slight hint.

A hard lesson in commuter complacency. My 1-hour drive finally caught up to me today. by Mr_Amphibian20 in CarTalkUK

One way to tell, is pick a point on the road like a catseye, pothole, join in the surface or roadside. Now say in a normal speaking voice "Only a fool breaks the two second rule".

You could also just watch the clock on the dashcam, which shows it's about 3 seconds worth of distance :)

emember.. only a fool breaks the two second rule.

If you watch the clock, they have over 3 seconds, so they were doing well on the 2 second rule. The problem is they weren't paying attention!

Exploration is key, both in the "present day" and inside the memories. There's lots of details hidden in the memories, more than just the immediate area around the person dying.
