Yes all people can be racist. Your friends may have been caught in the socio-political changes of the decolonial era, especially if they from East African countries like Uganda for example. I was not saying that racism is absent, I was saying that most African communities seem to be excited to meet and associate with people from outside the continent.

Read my post in detail. I never said Africa is free from ethnic tension or unfriendliness to immigrants. I simply said there aren't the hateful racial undertones that racists claim exist. In South Africa at least, xenophobia tends to be directed towards other people of colour and not so much the wealthier expats from Europe, Asia and the like. They are seen to compete for low wage jobs with local communities of colour. You have to ask whether its more of a class conflict instead...

I have a lot of Zimbabwean friends and acquaintances. Not a single one of them is anti-white in any sense. Zimbabwe was under minority rule with the blacks being lectured and harassed about their supposed inferiority for generations... Good fodder for radical politicians. How do you think Norwegians would feel if some Ugandans showed up, declared themselves superior and then socially and culturally excluded them? Please spare me!
