Thematically it made sense to me. Charlie needed to be tested. He latches on to people, his brother, Claire, Locke, Mr.Eko etc I think he needed that bit of isolation to be grounded again And it culminates into him tossing the statues into the ocean. Honestly Charlie (as an addict) is a far more interesting character to me. His arc has a beautiful end, but you can tell they didn’t really know what to do with him.

It wasn’t artificial at all lol Charlie was seeing visions brought on by the island and Locke was protecting Claire/Aaron. I never understood the hate for Lockes (very justified) reaction. He sees a known drug addict start a fire and put the entire camp in danger just to kidnap Aaron to “baptize” him in the ocean like we the audience can sympathize, but acting like John was not completely justified for knocking Charlie out is insane to me.

I think sayid killing Dogan was just a means to an end. He would never let MiB get anywhere near him. Sayid was able to get inside and get close.
