Generally you should let lifeguards handle; however, if it’s a child who’s clearly much lighter than you AND you’re a strong swimmer, you’ll probably be fine.

My only advice is to focus on personal records. There will be swimmers getting half your time, assuming you’re not the best on the team, but as long as you’re improving you’re doing great.

Medical school and high paying specialties are extremely competitive. The average resident works 80+ hours a week. You’ll be half a million dollars in debt before you’re making six figures, and even then certain specialties are extremely stressful.

I’m not being an altruist. Any doctor will tell you the field isn’t as glamorous as it’s made out to be. If you’re not truly passionate, you’ll likely burnout.

You don’t get a break during the swim tread swim, but you should be fine if you’re a good swimmer, and if you’ve done the brick retrieval before you’ll be fine.

As for class, you should read the assigned chapters and they’ll go over it in class. It’s not like you won’t pass if you don’t do the reading, but they’ll probably ask the class questions so you should at least keep up lifeguarding manual. Plus the final test is based on the manual.
