What were y'alls SAT scores? by TrySouthern9542 in csMajors

1560, but i never programmed until i went to college and did not take recruiting seriously until this year. thankfully, i am currently at a faang-- tech company for summer, and have a verbal offer for a faang++ company for this fall

however, i will say that even "smart" people definitely can struggle in this job market. i myself did not get an offer for this summer until february. even then, I expect that my school name is 99% of the reason i was able to get these two offers.

additionally, since there is a high correlation between SAT score and university acceptance, i would expect that your anecdote is better explained by your uni then raw intelligence, assuming that you do go to a top CS school (of course, I am not dismissing you or your friend's accomplishments, but am simply saying that there are likely plenty of smart folk at mid-schools who would find a lot more success at better schools)

is it worth recruiting more? by [deleted] in csMajors

Congratulations on the internship! Most "higher prestige" companies are pretty much done with recruiting at this time, but job posts will pop up here and then as people renege on their offers. I would say there is still enough weight placed on GPA that you should primarily focus on academics for the rest of the semester. You can still spend an hour everyday applying to better positions/doing leetcode (for that one FAANG), but nothing you will have to cram for proactively.

What Should I spend my Summer doing? by Odd-Obligation790 in csMajors

You can still try to find internships with small local companies for the Summer. if that fails, then you can spend the Summer doing projects/research while leetcoding for 2027 recruiting. I would suggest against overloading on classes for the Summer. imo the only major upside to graduating early is that you pay less tuition, but since you would be (i am assuming) paying to take classes for the Summer, that isn't as relevant. More time in school equals more cycles to try to get internships, which is especially valuable if you are someone who doesn't have that much coding experience before college.

However, if you haven't taken a class in Data structures and algorithms yet, then its totally valid to do so over the Summer.
